About The Position

Responsible for representing and protecting Fidelity in the drafting and negotiation of various types of agreements with Fidelity’s defined contribution clients. The Director of Contracts works with Sales, Relationship Management, Operations, Finance, Product Management, Compliance, Finance and Corporate Legal to reach the desired business goals of Fidelity, while managing legal/compliance risk for Fidelity.

Requirements

  • JD required
  • 5 to 8 years legal experience, involving contracts negotiation and drafting
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to function as the primary representative in the resolution of complex negotiation issues with clients and their counsel (internal and external)
  • Ability to take initiative in identifying and resolving contracting issues and in developing creative solutions that address client concerns and protect Fidelity
  • Ability to mentor associates and develop a training program to increase the contract negotiation skills of junior associates
  • Ability to serve in a client-facing capacity to resolve escalated contract negotiations
  • Outstanding oral, written communications skills
  • Outstanding analytical, relationship management, negotiation and influence skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Fidelity Corporate Legal, as well as with clients and their counsel
  • Ability to successfully drive to completion the drafting and negotiation and execution of agreements on behalf of Fidelity’s Workplace Investing business with minimal supervision
  • Ability to serve as the face of Fidelity in negotiations with clients and provide one of the first customer experiences for new clients
  • Ability to use analytic and creativity skills to find compromise in negotiations that meets the clients’ needs while still protecting Fidelity
  • Ability to provide solutions and work closely with the business to support growth and retention
  • Ability to provide leadership in the deals negotiated and serve as a subject matter expert for contractual issues and questions from business partners
  • Ability to create relationships across Fidelity and work closely with a team of professionals to deliver outstanding service to our business
