About The Position

The legal industry is undergoing a significant technological transformation driven by Generative AI, impacting how legal professionals conduct research, draft documents, and provide advice. Thomson Reuters is at the forefront of this shift, leading the content strategy for its Legal Professionals business. This role is responsible for setting the editorial agenda, shaping market understanding of the future of legal work, and developing content programs to drive demand for key products like CoCounsel, Westlaw, Practical Law, HighQ, and Noetica. The Director will report to the VP of Revenue Marketing - Legal and Government, and collaborate with Brand, Product Marketing, Thomson Reuters Institute, Communications, Product, and Sales leadership. This position will lead a team of writers, strategists, and producers.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in content strategy and editorial leadership at a B2B SaaS, professional services, or media company.
  • 3+ years of experience leading and scaling a team.
  • Proven track record of building original content programs that have influenced a market.
  • Strong editorial judgment and ability to assess and improve content quality.
  • Fluency with AI content tools and a clear perspective on their strategic application.
  • Experience working with senior executives, including extracting their viewpoints, ghostwriting, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Proficiency with content performance data and marketing analytics.
  • Familiarity with the modern content stack, including CMS, content operations platforms (e.g., Workfront, Contently, Writer), SEO and analytics tools, and AI-assisted production.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the editorial strategy, including themes, narratives, and point of view for the Legal Professionals portfolio, based on customer understanding, commercial priorities, and competitive analysis.
  • Create content that drives pipeline, including organic search and SEO, demand generation content for nurture and conversion, sales enablement materials, and integrated content for product launches and campaigns.
  • Establish and manage the content operating model, encompassing the editorial calendar, production workflows, multi-channel distribution (paid, owned, earned, partner), and a measurement framework linking content to business outcomes.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of content leaders, writers, and producers, and manage relationships with internal Studio, agency, and contributor networks.
