About The Position

WeWork is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Content & Social to lead the development and execution of content across marketing channels, with direct ownership of organic social. This role is responsible for translating brand and business priorities into an impactful content strategy and clear, compelling B2B and B2C content across the customer journey—from campaigns and digital experiences to social and thought leadership—ensuring consistency, relevance, and performance across our target audiences of small business and enterprise business decision makers, as well as landlords and brokers. Sitting within the Marketing & Communications organization and reporting to the Global Head of Communications, this role works closely with Creative, Growth, and Product Marketing teams to deliver cohesive, high-performing content. This is a player-coach role that blends strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

Requirements

  • 7-10+ years of experience in content, copywriting, or editorial roles in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating work product across brand, campaign, editorial, and digital content.
  • Experience developing content strategies, editorial plans and executing across multiple channels.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or leading organic social content for B2B/Enterprise-level companies.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms.
  • Familiarity with performance marketing and conversion-focused copywriting.
  • Solid understanding of SEO/GEO and digital content ecosystems.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into clear, engaging messaging.
  • Experience managing or mentoring writers or small teams.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience leveraging AI tools for content development is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and execution of global content strategy and editorial plans aligned to business and campaign priorities.
  • Apply and operationalize WeWork’s brand voice, tone, and messaging frameworks across marketing channels, in alignment with Marketing & Communications leadership.
  • Translate business priorities into clear, customer-focused narratives and content approaches.
  • Ensure messaging is consistent and effective across key touch-points (web, email, campaigns, and social), with content optimized for search and AI discoverability.
  • Lead development of rich content across formats, including long- and short-form written content (articles, reports, case studies, web) and visual content (video, social, and multimedia assets) in partnership with Creative Director.
  • Operate as a player-coach: directly write, edit, and develop content for priority initiatives while overseeing broader production.
  • Translate strategies into clear briefs and scalable content programs across channels.
  • Own and oversee marketing and brand copy across campaigns, website, email, product marketing, sales materials, and social.
  • Directly execute high-impact content (e.g., key campaigns, launches, flagship thought leadership).
  • Partner with Growth and Performance Marketing to develop and optimize content for paid channels (search, display, paid social, lifecycle), contributing to messaging across the funnel.
  • Support testing and optimization of conversion-focused content to improve engagement and performance.
  • Ensure all content is on-brand, high-quality, and aligned to messaging frameworks; provide hands-on editing and quality control.
  • Own organic social as a core brand and marketing channel.
  • Define channel strategy, content approach, and performance goals.
  • Lead content development and execution, ensuring platform relevance and engagement.
  • Partner with Creative and Growth to deliver high-performing, platform-native content.
  • Integrate social into broader campaign and content strategy.
  • Track and assess content performance across channels, including social engagement and campaign impact; use insights to refine strategy and execution.
  • Partner with analytics and SEO teams to inform content direction and optimization.
  • Build and maintain content workflows, editorial calendars, and scalable processes.
  • Maintain and apply copy guidelines and messaging framework.
  • Manage and mentor direct reports, supporting development and strong output, along with freelancers and external partners as required.
