About The Position

SEGA of America is seeking an experienced, innovative, and strategic Director of Consumer Products Licensing to help shape and drive the future of SEGA's award-winning licensed consumer products program in the West. This role will directly oversee SEGA’s licensed consumer products business and oversee the go-to-market strategies for Transmedia West licensing initiatives. Reporting to the Vice President of Licensing, Partnerships, and Location Based Experiences, the Director of Consumer Products Licensing will manage 6 direct reports overseeing a team of 12 highly talented and motivated licensing professionals. This role will drive collaboration across cross-functional teams to develop and implement exciting programs for SEGA IP that generate revenue, expand brand awareness, and deepen fan engagement. This role will focus heavily on IP growth and expansion, with the aim of positioning SEGA’s consumer products portfolio for long-term success.

Requirements

  • Working in-office is an essential function of this position. This requirement of face-to-face interaction is in place to ensure effective supervision, collaboration, and teamwork.
  • Typically has 10+ years of experience with 5+ years of management experience in outbound consumer products licensing.
  • Proven experience of full P&L ownership with forecast and reporting oversight.
  • Experience overseeing licensing agencies across the Americas and Europe.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, lead, and develop manager and senior manager-level employees, driving annual business targets.
  • Strong expertise in licensing contracts, with the ability to negotiate key business terms.
  • Strong knowledge of the retail landscape, including a range of channels from value to department.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate clearly and persuasively to internal and external business partners.
  • Experience in contract management.

  • Experience in entertainment or gaming licensing in preferred.
  • Experience with character licensing and/or kids IP management.

Responsibilities

  • Drive accurate annual revenue forecasts and oversee the development of monthly forecasts for management reporting, partnering with internal stakeholders and external licensees.
  • Partner closely with the VP of Licensing to develop a global consumer products strategy that drives scale and maximizes licensing revenue for SEGA IP.
  • Evaluate new business opportunities and investments to help support growth across Consumer Products programs.
  • Oversee the execution of the licensing strategy across Transmedia West including the United States and Canada.
  • Collaborate with Transmedia West licensing groups to ensure key strategies are aligned and synergistic across Partnerships, Europe Licensing Team, LATAM Licensing Team, Location Based Experiences, and Rovio.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Brand Marketing, Lore, Community, Publishing and other teams to support business initiatives.
  • Manage the relationship with global agency partners, ensuring delivery of strategic guidance and regular business updates.
  • Establish and implement processes to improve operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the execution and governance of all licensing documents and clearances including NDAs, deal memos, merchandise license agreements, amendments, and contracts.
  • Lead the negotiation with licensees and vendors to secure favorable license agreements, including terms, conditions, and royalty structures that align with business goals.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all licenses agreements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact across US, EMEA, and LATAM Licensing teams, championing communication and collaboration to support global success.
  • Identify growth opportunities within the consumer products industry and provide regular reports and updates to the Senior Leadership Team.
