About The Position

We are seeking a Director, Compensation Business Partners to lead our compensation business partnering function while managing and growing a small team of compensation partners. This is a senior leadership role that combines deep strategic advisory work with people leadership. In this role, you will shape how compensation partnership is delivered across the organisation, elevate the capability of your team, and serve as the most senior compensation voice embedded with key business functions. The ideal candidate is a trusted advisor to executives, a strong developer of talent, and a hands-on practitioner who leads from the front.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of compensation experience, with significant depth in business partnering and people management experience
  • Proven ability to lead and develop compensation professionals, with a player-coach approach
  • Experience supporting Product, Engineering, or Technology organizations in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Deep expertise in compensation fundamentals: market pricing, job evaluation, salary structures, and equity compensation
  • Strong executive presence with a demonstrated ability to influence and advise at the C-suite level
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to build trust and credibility quickly across diverse stakeholder groups
  • High judgment and discretion when handling sensitive or complex compensation matters
  • Track record of driving consistency and scalability across a compensation partnering function

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of compensation business partners, building a high-performing function known for strategic impact and trusted partnerships
  • Serve as the senior compensation advisor for key business functions, partnering directly with executive leadership and senior People Business Partners on the most complex and high-stakes compensation matters
  • Set the standard for how the team engages with business partners - establishing frameworks, norms, and tools that enable consistent, high-quality advisory support across client groups
  • Oversee compensation planning for assigned business units during annual cycles, ensuring alignment with enterprise principles, internal equity, and budget
  • Guide the team in navigating complex scenarios including executive offers, counter-offers, equity negotiations, and retention situations
  • Represent business partner insights to the broader Total Rewards leadership team, influencing enterprise compensation philosophy, structures, and policies
  • Lead ongoing market analysis efforts across client groups, synthesizing competitive intelligence into actionable recommendations for leadership
  • Drive enablement of managers and PBPs on compensation philosophy and decision-making, scaling the team's impact through education and self-service tools
  • Act as an escalation point for sensitive or high-risk compensation decisions, providing sound judgment and clear guidance
