About The Position

The Director, Communications leads external communications for Walmart U.S. Realty, Facility Services and Asset Protection. This role partners closely with senior leaders to tell the story of how Walmart is investing in its stores, facilities, people and communities, while also helping manage complex or sensitive issues. The Director works across Communications, Operations, Government Relations and other teams to spot issues early, shape clear messaging and provide strong counsel when media, community or stakeholder attention is high. The Walmart U.S. End-to-End External Communications team tells the story of how Walmart operates and the people who make it possible. Working closely with business leaders, the team manages complex issues, responds to media inquiries and leads national campaigns across areas including supply chain, real estate, energy and associates. Strong media relationships and a close eye on industry trends help the team communicate clearly and quickly, build trust and show how Walmart serves customers and communities every day.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in developing and executing media and digital communication strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Strong ability to evaluate and report on media relations effectiveness to enhance corporate reputation.
  • Experience advising senior executives on strategic messaging and issue mitigation.
  • Exceptional skills in managing sensitive communications and serving as a high-level spokesperson.
  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining relationships with media and key external partners.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional collaboration to ensure consistent messaging and public relations outcomes.
  • Commitment to integrity, ethics, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, or related field and 5 years’ experience in public relations, communications, or relevant area OR 7 years’ experience in public relations, communications, or relevant area.
  • 2 years’ supervisory experience or experience leading cross-functional teams.
