Summary: This position will be responsible for leading and expanding the Real Estate Advisory Services division of Kraus-Anderson, integrating strategic real estate consulting with commercial construction solutions. This role will focus on converting advisory engagements into full-scale construction projects, when desired by the client, by providing expert guidance in commercial real estate development, construction delivery models, financial structuring, facility planning, and sustainability strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial real estate, construction management, and strategic planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Construction Management, Finance, Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial real estate development, strategic advisory, or construction consulting.
  • Proven experience guiding complex real estate decisions from concept through execution, including feasibility, sustainability, and transaction planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to win advisory business and transition engagements into capital projects or construction delivery.
  • Experience with facility assessments, asset planning, and strategic advisory for institutional or corporate real estate clients.
  • Strong understanding of commercial real estate finance, property development, and market analysis.
  • Expertise in facility assessments, strategic planning, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Familiarity with construction processes, project management, and contract negotiations.
  • Proficiency in real estate technology, including reality capture, BIM, and visualization tools.
  • Exceptional client management and business development skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate with construction, design, and engineering teams to align strategies with execution.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency (MS Office 365 – Word, Excel PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert commercial real estate consulting to clients, including investors, developers, and property owners.
  • Develop and implement strategies that help clients optimize, develop, or reposition commercial properties.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor in real estate transactions, leasing strategies, and investment planning.
  • Lead and act as an Owner’s Representative with our other advisory services team members, ensuring projects align with client objectives, budgets, and timelines.
  • Lead broker advisory services, offering market insights and transaction support.
  • Oversee development feasibility studies, risk assessments, and project planning.
  • Collaborate with internal general contracting and construction teams to transition advisory clients into active projects when appropriate.
  • Guide facility condition assessments and strategic facility planning for property owners.
  • Lead and support Predesign services team, ensuring project feasibility aligns with long-term goals.
  • Coordinate evaluation and screening of investment and development opportunities.
  • Assist in financial feasibility review, underwriting coordination, and due diligence activities.
  • Maintain visibility into opportunity pipeline and investment tracking.
  • Prepare materials supporting and make recommendations for KA’s Real Estate Investment Advisory Committee review and decision-making processes.
  • Assist in development and implementation of scalable systems, standards, templates, and workflows.
  • Support governance processes related to investment opportunities and advisory engagements.
  • Participate in Development Review and Real Estate Investment Advisory Committee meetings.
  • Support energy auditing and sustainability consulting, integrating green building solutions.
  • Support the utilization of reality capture and visualization technologies to enhance project planning and execution.
  • Advise clients on property management best practices, improving asset performance and long-term value.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within commercial real estate and construction markets.
  • Build and manage relationships with brokers, owners, investors, developers, and corporate real estate teams.
  • Develop and present proposals, reports, and financial models for client projects.
  • Lead a team of consultants, analysts, and project managers within the advisory division.
  • Responsible for the growth and development of direct reports. Providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance.
  • Ability to lead and work with others cooperatively; recognize and reward people for their achievements; and provide constructive and timely coaching, performance assessment and feedback.
