About The Position

We are seeking a Nurse Midwife Service Director to serve as the clinical, operational, and administrative leader of the Nurse Midwife Service. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care across all care locations, including ambulatory and hospital-based settings. Reporting to the Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Director provides leadership for the recruitment, retention, professional development, and engagement of nurse-midwife staff while advancing the organization’s mission, strategic priorities, and standards of clinical excellence. This role will be a split of administrative and clinical time. About Midwifery at Hennepin Healthcare Our Nurse-Midwife Service was the first hospital-based midwife service in Minnesota and has been welcoming babies and providing comprehensive midwifery care for more than 55 years! Nurse-Midwives attend births and care for inpatients in the HCMC Birth Center which includes the Nurse-Midwife, Labor and Delivery and Postpartum Units. We practice full-scope midwifery in a supportive, collaborative environment. We support people throughout their pregnancies and births, offering a contracted doula service, waterbirth, and the option of co-management of twin gestations in collaboration with our physician colleagues. Requirements

  • Master's degree in nursing from an accredited Nurse Midwife program
  • Certification in Nurse Midwifery from the American College of Nurse Midwives – AMCB (American Midwifery Certification Board)
  • Possession of a valid license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse issued by the State of Minnesota
  • Minimum of five years of clinical experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage change effectively
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic, operational, and quality initiatives
  • Experience with clinical operations, workforce planning, budgeting, and performance management

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of three years of leadership, supervisory, administrative, or program management experience preferred
