About The Position

As a Director of Cloud Engineering, you will combine deep cloud technical experience with agile product delivery while managing developers who build platforms and composite solutions supporting Fidelity Brokerage Recordkeeping Technology’s cloud transformation. You will work with a team building cloud-native application platforms and solutions, managing technical complexities and developing secure, scalable solutions for customers. The Shared Services Engineering organization helps Fidelity Brokerage Recordkeeping Technology accelerate delivery of customer value through cloud-native composite solutions, platforms, frameworks, and security capabilities. As a key member of this team, you will lead work on application platforms, composite APIs, tools, and frameworks that advance the organization’s use of public cloud technology. You will influence strategic backlog and prioritization decisions, deliver solutions to development teams, identify emerging trends that can improve efficiency and time to market, organize the team’s work to maximize value, and share insights and industry practices across the organization. The role includes supporting large-scale, mission-critical applications that cannot afford downtime and contributing to a multi-year technology strategy aligned with enterprise priorities. Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Current onsite expectations vary by role and location and may evolve; this transition does not apply to fully remote roles. Fidelity will not provide immigration sponsorship for this position.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or master’s degree.
12+ years of knowledge and experience working in software and cloud infrastructure engineering across various technology platforms.
Strong Java backend API development and public cloud understanding with AWS.
Experience directing technical teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.
Experience managing business priorities and making tradeoffs between pace and perfection.
Expertise building containerized applications using Java Spring Boot and Micronaut.
Experience with Java, Python, Golang, Node.js, Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure code, Helm, and Terraform.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to present to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships at all organizational levels.
Ability to support and develop a team, including mentoring and coaching.
Comfort working in an agile environment.

Responsibilities

Manage and develop a team of engineers building cloud platforms and composite solutions.
Assist the VP of Engineering in developing and implementing a multi-year technology strategy for BRT Application Solutions aligned with enterprise priorities.
Lead modernization of Application Platforms, Gateways, and Composite Solutions from legacy mainframe systems to cloud-native architectures.
Lead, influence, and motivate engineers focused on cloud migrations, API platforms, and business-critical service interface development.
Direct technical teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.
Manage business priorities and make tradeoffs when considering delivery pace versus perfection.
Support large-scale, mission-critical applications that cannot afford downtime.
Influence strategic backlog and prioritization decisions related to BRT Application Solutions Engineering.
Deliver solutions to BRT development teams and determine how to support them.
Develop a point of view on emerging trends and advance solutions that improve efficiency and time to market.
Organize and drive the team’s work efficiently to deliver value to technical and business partners.
Share insights, knowledge, industry practices, and developments across the organization.
Recruit and develop technical talent.
Build and maintain cross-functional partnerships, and mentor and coach team members.
