About The Position

As the Director, Clinical Development, you are responsible for functional/strategic leadership of Senior Clinical professionals, driving clinical evidence programs, conceptualization and execution of innovative strategies for evidence generation to drive transformative business growth and position Philips Oral Healthcare organization as a leader in evidence-based decision-making. Your role: Spearheads the development and execution of comprehensive clinical research programs in collaboration with clinical, academic, and industry partners, overseeing the largest and most complex initiatives. Lead, mentor, and inspire a clinical team of 5 members based in the Netherlands (Eindhoven/Drachten) managing both individual performances and organizational goals. Responsible for comprehensive planning activities, including workforce structuring, budgetary planning, and the implementation of methodological innovations to drive organizational excellence. Accountable for the strategic interpretation and dissemination of evidence derived from clinical development endeavors, engaging with regulatory bodies and influential stakeholders to shape policy and industry standards. Manages the Clinical Affairs Annual Operating Plan (AOP), overseeing fiscal allocations, resource distribution, and expenditure priorities to optimize operational efficiency and strategic agility. Based on experience leads one or multiple clinical affairs disciplines; clinical development, medical writing, clinical research, clinical programming. Shapes strategies and value propositions within own area of expertise, leveraging insights to drive innovation and define organizational priorities. Maintains and actively builds networks within the specific domain, collaborating with senior stakeholders both within Philips and across the broader ecosystem and represents Philips internally and externally as an ambassador for Clinical Affairs. Empowers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to orchestrate the delivery of dynamic clinical evidence programs, ensuring alignment with strategic imperatives and industry-leading practices.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10+ years of experience in designing, executing and overseeing Clinical Research/Development within FDA regulated medical Device/MedTech environments and deep understanding of Health Care Research methodology, relevant regulations, laws, and guidance in major markets such as EU, USA, UK, AUS, Japan and China.
  • A minimum of 5+ years’ experience in Strategic/Functional leadership, of Clinical teams/organizations, including mentoring, budgeting, training, succession planning, hiring, performance management and technical/professional development of team members.
  • Proven experience working within a complex organizational structure, demonstrating the ability to navigate and manage multifaceted processes, relationships, and workflows effectively.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage and engage with internal/external stakeholders, fostering collaboration and alignment across teams and departments, paired with strong change management skills to successfully implement and guide organizational transformations.
  • A minimum of a Master's Degree in Life Science or comparable disciplines. (Medical Biology, Biomedical Sciences or Medicine is highly preferred)
