About The Position

The Client Platform team, part of Business Technology (BT) at Workday, is responsible for managing, securing, and optimizing every end-user device across our global workforce. We build the digital foundation that enables employees to work securely and seamlessly from anywhere. Managing a hybrid ecosystem of macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android devices, our team sits at the vital intersection of endpoint management, enterprise security, and employee experience. We are looking for a dynamic, high-ownership Director of Client Platforms to lead our global endpoint engineering and management organization. Operating with a high sense of urgency, you will drive the strategy, lifecycle, and security posture for thousands of endpoints. You are a decisive leader who excels at cross-functional partnership - working hand-in-hand with Information Security to enforce zero-trust policies, maintain patching cadences, and leverage AI to automate device provisioning, L2 ticket resolution, and fleet compliance.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of enterprise IT leadership experience, with at least 4+ years leading global teams focused on client platform engineering, endpoint management, or desktop infrastructure.
  • 4+ years of experience managing diverse fleet architectures at scale (25,000+ endpoints across macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android).
  • 5+ years of experience with enterprise MDM/UEM platforms, specifically Jamf Pro and Microsoft Intune.
  • Demonstrated track record of partnering with Security teams to meet SLAs on OS/application patching, EDR deployments, and compliance reporting.
  • AI domain fluency, including a practical understanding of modern AI capabilities, limitations, governance considerations, and responsible enterprise application.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-million-dollar IT software budgets and leading complex enterprise vendor negotiations.
  • Experience operating within high-growth Bay Area technology companies.
  • Expertise in zero-touch deployment models (Apple Business Manager/DEP, Windows Autopilot) and identity integrations (Okta, Entra ID).
  • Strong familiarity with regulatory compliance frameworks (SOC2, ISO 27001, HIPAA) and EDR platforms (CrowdStrike, SentinelOne).

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the global hardware, OS, and endpoint management strategy across Apple (macOS/iOS) and PC/Android ecosystems to ensure a premium employee experience without compromising security.
  • Work in lockstep with the Information Security team to establish, measure, and enforce robust endpoint security baselines, zero-trust access controls, disk encryption, and rapid patching/vulnerability remediation.
  • Leverage AI capabilities and automated workflows to accelerate device onboarding/offboarding, streamline configuration enforcement, and drive intelligent ticket deflection for endpoint-related L2/L3 issues.
  • Direct, develop, and scale a high-performing team of endpoint engineers, architects, and platform leads operating across time zones.
  • Own and optimize our core platform stack, including Jamf Pro, Microsoft Intune, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) agents, and zero-touch deployment pipelines (Apple Business Manager, Autopilot).
  • Drive global hardware procurement strategies, manage OEM relationships (Apple, Dell, Lenovo), oversee hardware refresh cycles, and manage software licensing costs to maximize ROI.

Benefits

  • Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus
  • Annual refresh stock grants
  • Comprehensive benefits
