About The Position

Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody values of excellence, compassion, teamwork, and purpose to join their Health Impact leadership team in the role of Director-Chief of Staff, Healthy Communities. This role serves as a leader and trusted advisor to the Chief Health Impact Officer (CHIO), taking initiative to support and deliver results on behalf of the CHIO and their leadership team. The Chief of Staff facilitates and expedites decision-making and execution, proactively identifying potential issues. This director manages internal and external advisory boards and committee interactions, and represents the CHIO as needed. The role interfaces with system leaders and front-line team members across various departments to execute organizational Healthy Communities strategy. This leader aligns operational and research priorities for Healthy Communities, acts as a liaison to system functions like marketing, legal, contracts management, and finance, and oversees communication strategy. The director is responsible for the organization's operating rhythm, including business reviews, budgeting, financial sustainability models, grant funding, and team engagement. Additionally, the Chief of Staff has responsibility and oversight for the Anchor Institution Strategy, including administering the Community Impact Investment fund, a grants portfolio awarded to community-based organizations supporting health-related social needs. This leader may also support administration for the Indy Health District, a large-scale redevelopment effort aimed at advancing longevity and wellness in neighborhoods surrounding the new Adult Academic Health Center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • 4 years of people leader experience.
  • Extensive work experience in complex, matrix organizations health impact experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in health impact, and/or business extensive work experience in complex, matrix organizations.
  • Experience and acumen utilizing data and analytics to assess and drive program and financial performance required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Grants management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a leader and trusted advisor to the Chief Health Impact Officer (CHIO).
  • Facilitate and expedite decision-making and execution on behalf of the CHIO and their leadership team.
  • Proactively identify issues that could impact the successful execution of the CHIO's priorities.
  • Manage internal and external advisory boards and other standing committee interactions.
  • Represent the CHIO where and when needed.
  • Interface with system leaders and front-line team members in quality and safety, clinical effectiveness, IIS, patient experience, government affairs, IUSM, marketing and communications, and the IU Health Foundation to execute organizational Healthy Communities strategy.
  • Align Healthy Communities’ operational priorities with research priorities.
  • Act as a liaison to system functions such as marketing, legal, contracts management, and finance.
  • Oversee communication strategy, including annual reports, website updates, and LinkedIn presence.
  • Manage the operating rhythm of the organization, including monthly business reviews, budgeting, models for financial sustainability, grant funding, and overall team engagement.
  • Oversee the Anchor Institution Strategy.
  • Oversee the administering of the Community Impact Investment fund, a community-facing grants portfolio.
  • Support key elements of administration for the Indy Health District.
