About The Position

The Director of Career Services is responsible for the supervision and management of the Career Services Department. This position ensures that quality career services are delivered to all students and graduates, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to successfully transition from graduate to employees in their chosen field of study. The Director of Career Services provides departmental leadership, vision, goal setting, and oversees the resulting outcomes.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in a related field from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and/or 2 years related experience.
  • Minimum 1 year management experience.
  • Knowledge of and experience with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in a staffing and/or placement environment.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated success in collaborating with diverse groups of employees and customers.
  • Ability to lead and work in an observation/coaching style environment.
  • Strong organizational and problem-resolution skills.
  • Good computer skills, including MS Office products.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Previous Management experience in the placement/staffing Industry.
  • Previous experience as a campus-based Career Services Director.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures monthly “Career Connection Workshops” are conducted for every class.
  • Ensures the completion of initial assessments with all students within the specified timeframe.
  • Collaborates with the education department to ensure Career Planning classes provide students with all necessary elements for successful placement outcomes, including professional resumes, entry-level job interviewing skills, and proficiency in job search techniques.
  • Responsible for completing required exit paperwork in both group and one-on-one settings.
  • Regularly conducts one-on-one coaching sessions with students.
  • Ensures documentation in CampusVue of all correspondence between the career services department and students, graduates, or employers.
  • Ensures compliance with state, institutional, and programmatic accreditation regulations.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with employers to develop partnership opportunities for externships and job placement.
  • Participates in and/or facilitates campus Program Advisory Committee meetings to ensure compliance with state and accreditation agencies.
  • Assists in resume preparation and development, working with instructors and students.
  • Interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department, as applicable.
  • Accomplishes staff results by clearly and frequently communicating job expectations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
