About The Position

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Barnes-Jewish Hospital's staff is composed of full-time academic faculty and community physicians of Washington University School of Medicine, supported by a house staff of residents, interns, fellows and other medical professionals. This role oversees all of IP/OP Social Work, Case Management, Spiritual Care and Rehab.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5-10 years of experience
  • 5-10 years of supervisor experience
  • RN license

Responsibilities

  • Selects, orients, monitors, assigns projects, counsels, problem solves, leads employees under his/her jurisdiction.
  • Practices in accordance with Missouri Nurse Practice Act and HSO policies and standards of care.
  • Leads and directs the coordination of patient care at the most appropriate location, level and time.
  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: onboarding and hiring, training, workload management & performance evaluations, conducting professional development plans as needed.
  • Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Monitors, controls and evaluates all resources utilized in Case Management, Social Services and Congestive Heart Failure Disease Management Departments.
  • Directs the extension of care coordination in the inpatient setting.
  • Provides designated service lines and physicians timely data, assists in analysis of the data and identifies areas for administrative focus.
  • Oversees the care of patients referred to the Hospitalist Service to ensure timely hospital discharge and continuous communication with Primary Care Physicians, patients and families, specialists, hospital departments and administration.
