About The Position

The Director provides strategic leadership, management, and oversight of several key technology auxiliary services including printing services, offset printing, bulk xerographic reproduction/copying, merchandise, promotional items, and the computer store that delivers end user computing devices, periphials, and software. The Director is responsible for ensuring that these auxiliary services operate efficiently, provide excellent customer service, meet financial targets, and contribute to enhancing the overall faculty, staff, and student experience. The role requires a hands-on approach combined with a creative mindset to elevate service delivery and foster a positive campus environment. The Director seeks continuous improvement and innovative solutions to enhance the campus experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Knowledge of copyright laws and their application in a higher education setting.
  • Advanced knowledge or experience in print operations.
  • Ability to operate and lead effectively in a cross-functional business team environment.
  • Strong background managing negotiations and contract execution.
  • Applies knowledge of business and the marketplace to advance the organization's goals.
  • Retail knowledge of determining prices to cover expenses while providing value to those that use the offered services.
  • Experience in successfully building teams, managing staff, and achieving work plan goals, priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with leadership on strategic initiatives, and manages department-initiated institution-wide programs for cost savings and efficiencies, relative to auxiliary services.
  • Partner with related services.
  • Manage a team of staff for delivering technology auxiliary services.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encourage forward thinking solutions, and guide the professional development of staff.
  • Responsible for development and management of technology auxiliary services budget and programs.
  • Lead long-term planning for services that align with university goals and meeting evolving needs.
  • Monitors financial status and approves expenditures.
  • Reviews financial reporting, adjusting prices and fees, controlling costs, and addressing new needs as appropriate.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with graphic identity standards and copyright use for the institution within the departments control and exposure.
  • Manage vendor relations and negotiates contracts where applicable.
  • Interfaces with customers to ensure satisfaction, including time and cost-effective procedures or equipment and production issues; other problem-solving situations as they occur.
  • Management duties include interviewing, selecting and training of employees; setting and adjusting rates of pay and hours of work; planning and directing work; appraising productivity and efficiency, handling complaints/grievances and disciplining when necessary.
  • Stay current with latest technology and service trends and evaluate adjustments to approaches.
  • Champion streamlining services and processes related to services.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
