About The Position

Lead strategic planning and delivery of multiple complex programs across RBC Investor Services with direct accountability for portfolio performance, business outcomes, and organizational alignment. You will manage the full delivery lifecycle—from planning and resource optimization through execution and value realization—ensuring initiatives deliver measurable value to clients while managing interdependencies and maintaining governance discipline. You report to the Managing Director, Strategic Transformation and collaborate with Client and Markets, Operations, Technology, Product, Risk, Compliance, and Finance leadership and teams. This strategic, execution-focused role bridges business strategy with operational delivery at the enterprise level, establishing a scalable portfolio and delivery management capability and team mentoring for sustained excellence.

Requirements

  • 15+ years in financial services program and portfolio management with exposure to transformations or large-scale initiatives
  • Proven track record managing complex portfolios in regulated environments with measurable business outcomes
  • Strong governance and strategic planning capability; ability to balance priorities and drive portfolio-level decisions across matrix organizations
  • Excellent executive communication and C-suite engagement skills
  • Demonstrated expertise in enterprise program governance, risk management, portfolio controls, and regulatory compliance
  • Strategic commercial acumen; understanding of financial services business models and competitive advantage
  • Advanced program and portfolio management discipline (certification preferred); skilled in execution planning, frameworks, and dependency management
  • Executive presence and strategic influence; ability to drive enterprise decisions without positional authority
  • Systems thinking and enterprise leadership capability
  • Demonstrated commitment to building sustainable teams and developing emerging leaders

Nice To Haves

  • PgMP, PMP, or equivalent certification
  • Direct experience designing enterprise portfolio and program governance structures

Responsibilities

  • Manage delivery end-to-end: Establish delivery strategy, execution frameworks, and resource allocation models; track performance and escalate cross-program risks and dependencies with proactive mitigation plans
  • Lead program planning and prioritization: Translate business objectives into portfolio roadmaps; align stakeholders through transparent reporting and regular governance cadences
  • Orchestrate cross-functional dependencies: Align program managers, Operations, Technology, Risk, Compliance, and Finance teams; resolve cross-program conflicts and resource constraints
  • Establish governance discipline: Maintain portfolio and program steering cadence with transparent trade-off analysis; escalate portfolio-level decisions to executive leadership with clear recommendations and impact assessments
  • Produce and maintain governance artifacts: Create portfolio and program charters, dependency maps, dashboards, status reports, risk/issue logs, and decision records ensuring traceability from strategy through execution
  • Manage portfolio financials: Full accountability for cost management and value realization; provide clear financial impact assessments to leadership
  • Deliver executive communications: Present portfolio and program health, risk posture, and strategic alignment with confidence and clarity
  • Apply systems thinking: Manage complex interdependencies across organizational structure, business strategy, talent, process, technology, compliance, and market dynamics; drive integrated decisions that optimize enterprise outcomes
  • Build and develop teams: Lead 6 Business Program and Project Managers and oversee 4 Business Analysts; establish capability development pathways and reinforce delivery discipline
