Director, Business Modernization

McKessonMississauga, ON
CA$149,600 - CA$199,500Hybrid

About The Position

The Director, Business Modernization is accountable for bringing rigor, pace, and discipline to the execution of approved innovation and modernization initiatives across McKesson Canada. Operating within enterprise strategy, portfolio priorities, and design standards established by the Strategy, Innovation, and Business Modernization leadership, this role ensures initiatives are well framed, properly governed, executable, and delivered with measurable outcomes. This role succeeds by reducing execution risk, maintaining continuity as initiatives move from design into rollout, and removing friction across complex cross-functional efforts - not by owning strategy, setting priorities, or acting as staff augmentation to the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, project management, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience delivering complex, cross functional initiatives in innovation, transformation, or modernization contexts.
  • Proven ability to operate in ambiguity while imposing structure and delivery discipline.
  • Deep experience with program and project delivery methodologies (Agile, hybrid, waterfall), applied pragmatically.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to integrate across business, technology, and enabling functions.
  • Experience preparing clear, decision ready materials for senior leaders and executive forums.
  • Financial and operational acumen to assess delivery tradeoffs, readiness, and value realization.
  • Exceptional facilitation and communication skills, grounded in achieving measurable outcomes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to drive efficient outcomes and ensure alignment with business case objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Translate enterprise priorities into executable delivery plans, ensuring initiatives are properly scoped, sequenced, and resourced before execution begins.
  • Operate and enforce the innovation and AIM28 delivery framework, including stage gates, standards, documentation, and decision hygiene.
  • Prepare materials that enable VP- and ELT-level decision-making, including delivery implications, dependencies, risks, and readiness - without assuming decision authority.
  • Coordinate cross functional delivery teams to ensure aligned, timely execution.
  • Maintain delivery continuity as initiatives transition from design into rollout, minimizing execution risk and handoff friction.
  • Actively surface risks, design gaps, and dependency conflict early, escalating with clear options and implications.
  • Apply appropriate governance inflows with execution, so work progresses without rework or delay.
  • Track delivery progress and benefits realization, maintaining transparency on cadence, momentum, and blockers.
  • Support transition to business ownership, ensuring solutions are adopted, measured, and sustained post-delivery.
  • Provide end-to-end oversight of automation opportunities (e.g., onboarding automation), ensuring processes are coherently designed, delivery ready, and scalable before rollout.

Benefits

  • competitive compensation package
  • annual bonus
  • long-term incentive opportunities
