About The Position

The Director, Business HR partners with senior business leaders, mainly Presidents and Vice Presidents, to execute and deliver the people strategy for the assigned client groups. The role shapes and advances people strategy and serves as s bridge to HR Centers of Expertise, ensuring programs align with system goals. The Director drives alignment and harmonization of HR practices through strong collaboration and leads change in partnership with HR subject matter experts, identifying gaps, recommending solutions, and guiding stakeholders through implementation. Overall, the role partners with leaders to advance business outcomes through an integrated, people-focused strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field, required.
  • 7+ years of relevant and progressive experience in Human Resources
  • 3+ years in an HR Business Partner or strategic HR Leadership role, including working with Senior Leaders.
  • Strong business acumen, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively develop and implement HR strategies to support business goals
  • Customer focused and successful leader with a high level of credibility, adaptability and collaboration.
  • Ability to provide coaching and guidance to leaders on a variety of performance and talent related situations or circumstances.
  • Demonstrates in-depth and current knowledge of local, state and federal laws pertaining to employment policies and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to invite diverse perspectives, promote an inclusive work environment and support workforce diversity.
  • Experience and interest in developing broad reaching strategies and executing on tactics.
  • Effective communication skills, including demonstrated ability to prepare and present written material (investigation reports, proposals, and project summaries) as required.
  • Experience using data to identify insights that drive action.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work, drive results and work independently.
  • Must have strong analytical reasoning skills, be a strong independent thinker, problem solver and decision maker.
  • Strong people management skills, with a proven track record of coaching, motivating, inspiring and developing team members – both directly and indirectly.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field, preferred
  • Professional certification in the field of Human Resources (e.g., CCP, PHR / SPHR, SHRM CP / SCP, or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Professional certifications in the field of Project Management, Change Management, and Process Improvement (e.g., PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes strong relationships, identifies the most pressing talent opportunities and challenges, and provides strategic business and thought partnership to Executive-Level business leaders, co-owning the talent management strategy.
  • Partners to achieve results and solve business challenges through best practice programs and policies in the areas of workforce strategy, organizational design, talent and performance management, reward, recognition, career development, succession management, retention, engagement, wellbeing and employee relations.
  • Leverages data and analytical insights to investigate issues, identify root causes and inform next steps. Translates complex information into clear, actionable business insights that drive decision making. Partners with Centers of Expertise to provide business context to system philosophies and program development optimizing business aligned outcomes.

  • Stays abreast of legal changes that may impact organizational policies or practices. With the Policy Team, leads efforts to implement changes ensuring compliance and fostering a positive work environment that demonstrates our values.
  • May oversee and manage an HR Business Partner serving as a trusted advisor and primary contact for operational leaders, mainly AVPs, Directors, Managers and Supervisors who deliver people solutions through operational expertise, planful execution and sound management of employee relations in the achievement of strategic initiatives.
  • Responsible for the development and retention of any potential direct reports. Monitors and communicates HR metrics to key business leaders, identifying trends and performance gaps, and collaborates on recommended solutions and actions.
