About The Position

Join a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as the Director, Business Development International Programs - GCC responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders & leaders in healthcare within their region to strengthen our collaborations in the region. The Director will develop and implement effective strategies that lead to the referral of patients to UChicago Medicine as well as the development of new partnerships and collaborations for education and training and/or advisory services. Key stakeholders may include - government officials, tertiary public/private hospitals, physician groups, payors, and international investors. To attain these goals, the Director will develop and execute strategies to enhance UChicago Medicine’s brand presence internationally and identify opportunities to build deeper collaborations with potential partners in in the region. The Director, Business Development International Programs will leverage existing academic, research and referral relationships and evaluate new opportunities to grow referrals to UChicago Medicine’s clinical centers of excellence, including identifying and pursuing new models for partnerships and collaborations. They will also be responsible for promoting the UChicago Medicine brand through appropriate international venues, including facilitating speaking engagements for physicians, social media strategies, and conferences / exhibit opportunities. Frequent domestic and international travel required (50+% of time).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, and/or healthcare administration required.
  • 8 years of hospital experience required.
  • Work record that demonstrates superior interpersonal, communication and presentation skills is required; work record that demonstrates superior customer service skills.
  • Must be experienced in multicultural business and hospital administration.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare operations, patient coordination, and industry trends.
  • Proven ability to achieve results in a highly matrixed organization through strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly developed communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
  • Skill using and analyzing information systems to quickly recommend opportunities for optimization and efficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5 years’ experience in healthcare related business development preferred.
  • Written and spoken fluency in the business languages spoken in their territory preferred.
  • Extensive educational and practical credentials in project management.
  • Strong sales or business development background with a proven record and extensive experience in dealing with healthcare opinion leaders in the region.

Responsibilities

  • Define opportunities to grow international referrals from their regional territory through internal & external research and work with Chief Global Destinations Program Officer to set targets related to international patient services.
  • Evaluate opportunities for international alliances, affiliations, and referrals and provide recommendations and ROI for the Medical Center.
  • Implement international strategies (marketing, referral relationship development, partnerships and collaborations) with existing and new partners.
  • Meet with international government officials, referral agencies, hospitals, physicians, investors, patients & other clients to promote the Medical Center locally, regionally, and internationally.
  • Facilitate events / tours for international and domestic referral groups.
  • Represent the hospital at conferences, community events, and other activities nationally and overseas (marketing and promotion) and identified opportunities for CME programs and networking events with UChicago Medicine physicians and referring physicians in the region.
  • Identifies opportunities, develops proposals and leads for international hospitals interested in buying consulting services, educational services from UChicago Medicine or interested in developing new ventures with UChicago Medicine.
  • Delivers on existing and new projects.
  • Maintains current electronic records on referring sources, payors and physician encounters, needs, issues and their resolution.
  • Collect and analyze patient data to drive insights into increasing volume and target specific departments at the Hospital for growth.
  • Provide written reports summarizing key accomplishments of the period in question, plans for the coming period, and reporting on performance metrics.
  • Collects and communicates specific information on internal process improvement opportunities and service expectations with a goal of earning new business, retaining current business and keeping referring sources and payors satisfied and engaged.
