Requirements

  • Preferred, advanced degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology or related field or a bachelor’s degree in one of these fields.
  • Relative alternate certification may be considered acceptable. This determination ensures the jobholder has sufficient technical ability to perform the role.
  • Excellent communications, presentation, interpersonal skills, both written and spoken, with an ability to inform, influence, convince, and persuade.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, line management, tactical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Experience within a client-service environment, either in a contract laboratory or within a core group at a pharmaceutical company.
  • Demonstrates skills in scientific problem solving.
  • Extensive knowledge of GLP guidelines and other applicable regulatory requirement.
  • In-depth understanding and knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and contract research organizations in general and the bioanalysis community specifically.
  • Ability to travel as necessary (approximately 25%)
  • English level: Required bilingualism includes communicating verbally and in writing on topics that are often technical, and writing procedures or technical reports.
  • Candidate who does not possess the required training and/or experience may be considered under different criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill management responsibilities with respect to Good Laboratory Practices.
  • Ensure laboratory operations are compliant with the appropriate regulatory requirements.
  • Represent the company with clients and prospective clients.
  • Works directly with business develop directors to maintain existing relationships and develop new contacts.
  • Provide operational insight for efficiency improvement.
  • Draft, review, and/or approve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other documents related to laboratory projects.
  • Develop scientific, technical, and business strategies to promote the growth and profitability of bioanalytical services.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor scientific staff.
  • Oversee development of direct reports by setting goals, conducting performance reviews, evaluating and monitoring training needs, creating development plans, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Set priorities and schedule activities of departmental resources, implement company objectives, and create alternative solutions to address business and operational challenges.
