About The Position

We are seeking a Director to work across a broad range of fiduciary, investigative, advisory, and restructuring mandates. This is a hands-on, client-facing role for an experienced professional who can independently own workstreams, exercise commercial judgment, interface directly with clients and other senior professionals, operate confidently across legal and financial dimensions of distressed situations, and work collaboratively with our generalist investigative team. This is a high-visibility seat for someone who wants to apply a strong foundation in bankruptcy, credit, and distressed work in a collaborative, nimble, and entrepreneurial environment, with direct exposure to marquee fiduciary, restructuring, distressed, and litigation matters and a meaningful part in building the practice.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years in restructuring, bankruptcy, distressed or credit investing, leveraged finance, or turnaround advisory.
  • Working command of the bankruptcy and insolvency process, corporate credit, and distressed situations.
  • Strong financial accounting and modeling skills (Excel); fluency with credit documentation (credit agreements and indentures), court-filings, and other legal documents; top-tier PowerPoint skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the poise to be client-facing and to interface directly with senior professionals, counsel, fiduciaries, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to run multiple workstreams at once and keep complex, multi-front engagements accurate and on track.
  • Comfort operating across legal and financial domains, with a practical understanding of how the bankruptcy/legal processes, business operations, and creditor and stakeholder rights interact.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled research and analytical tools to work efficiently and sharpen insight.
  • A practical understanding of what clients in the distressed space need, and the ability to prioritize the issues that most directly drive case outcomes and stakeholder recoveries.
  • JD, MBA, CFA, or a degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Relevant experience is paramount.
  • Intellectual curiosity, integrity, attention to detail, and the drive to thrive in a collaborative, entrepreneurial setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Bloomberg, Octus (formerly Reorg), Debtwire, 9fin, Capital IQ, and Lexis/Westlaw is a plus.
  • An established professional network, or the drive to build one, is valued.

Responsibilities

  • Support the administration of bankruptcy estates, litigation and liquidating trusts, and receiverships, including asset and estate management, claims reconciliation, asset monetization and wind-down, distributions, and stakeholder reporting.
  • Act as a key resource to court-appointed fiduciaries (litigation trustees, receivers, and independent directors).
  • Identify and analyze causes of action that arise in the insolvency context (avoidance actions, breaches of fiduciary duty, fraud, and other commercial torts).
  • Reconstruct and analyze prior corporate transactions and events, such as LBOs, dividend recapitalizations, asset sales, PE sponsor transactions, and financings, to assess their impact on the company, recoveries, and potential litigation issues or related causes of action.
  • Support asset tracing, forensic review, development of the evidentiary record, and coordination with counsel and litigation funders.
  • Advise boards, committees, lenders, and other stakeholders on out-of-court workouts and Chapter 11 matters.
  • Develop and help execute restructuring and recovery strategies, including covenant waivers, collateral dispositions, and debt restructurings, with a focus on maximizing recoveries.
  • Support interim management, chief restructuring officer, and other fiduciary leadership engagements.
  • Analyze complex capital structures, including lien priority, payment waterfalls, and recovery outcomes across debt and equity tranches.
  • Build and stress-test financial models, including liquidity and 13-week cash flow, three-statement, recovery, and distressed valuation models.
  • Value litigation claims and assess credit and distressed situations.
  • Work fluently across credit agreements, indentures, corporate governing documents, locate and understand Chapter 11 dockets (PACER) and related court-filings, litigation dockets, and public records to extract the covenant, structural, and factual detail that drives outcomes.
  • Translate complex financial, legal, and investigative findings into clear memoranda, reports, and presentations for boards, counsel, committees, and other sophisticated stakeholders.
  • Maintain a live watchlist of stressed and distressed companies.
  • Monitor public filings, earnings, and debt trading to surface opportunities, screen potential mandates, and help prepare pitch and marketing materials, including for fiduciary appointments.
