About The Position

American Express' Internal Audit Group (IAG) has reinvented its audit process and is leading the financial services industry with its Audit NextGen, Data-Driven Continuous Auditing, and Auditor of the Future initiatives. These initiatives support the goal of being a world-class internal audit function that provides data-driven and technology-enabled assurance, delivers timely risk insights that are business-aware and forward-looking, and supports colleagues with experiences that prepare them to be enterprise leaders. IAG utilizes advanced data analysis capabilities, provides greater and continuous assurance, and helps ensure quality products and services are provided to American Express customers. The Data-Driven Continuous Auditing approach has led to patent-pending technology assets over uniquely developed audit methodology and technology enablers. The Internal Audit Group is a worldwide function with 400+ team members and offices across nine countries within American Express. Its mission is to protect and enhance organizational value by providing independent, objective, risk-based assurance, advisory services and to influence the way the company manages risk. The company is committed to growing its audit staff significantly as it continues to expand and enhance the Internal Audit Group. Assurance and risk professionals have diverse backgrounds including internal controls, consumer compliance, technology, operational risk, financial accounting, data analytics, and banking operations. Audit teams align to key risk areas and business units to ensure comprehensive and risk-based audit coverage. Additionally, IAG has a Professional Practices group responsible for managing audit operations, quality, and standards; regulatory relations; reporting; training and professional development; and key internal capabilities and technologies. This role is based in New York and will support the Head of Treasury, Market Risk and Corporate Planning audit.
