Director ASIC Technical Program Management

Astera Labs•San Jose, CA

About The Position

Astera Labs is seeking a Director ASIC Technical Program Management to join its PMO organization in the USA. The role leads a US-based team of Technical Program Managers responsible for cross-functional execution of advanced ASIC programs from early planning through production release. The Director mentors and develops the team, aligns program-management methodology, and maintains visibility into program status across the portfolio, while remaining hands-on and directly leading programs when needed. The role oversees milestone planning, dependency management, execution reviews, decision-making forums, and risk mitigation across engineering disciplines. It is accountable for program readiness at key gates, including tapeout, power-on, and production release, and establishes consistent standards for tracking, communicating, and acting on execution status. The Director works closely with executive leadership and the PLM team to support timely decisions and transparent visibility into program health and priorities, and represents programs with external partners and customers. The position requires end-to-end ownership of ASIC programs, cross-functional leadership, technical judgment in resolving pre- and post-silicon issues, and clear communication of scope, schedule, cost, risks, and decisions. The successful candidate will drive accountability across concurrent programs and build scalable execution practices that support delivery of silicon.

  • Strong program management and leadership skills.
  • End-to-end ownership experience across the ASIC program lifecycle, from architecture and RTL through physical design, tapeout, validation, customer sampling, qualification, and release to manufacturing.
  • Ability to serve as the single point of accountability for programs and drive planning, scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management with minimal oversight.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and technical judgment for resolving pre-silicon and post-silicon issues.
  • Ability to communicate program status, risks, and decisions clearly to executives and stakeholders at all levels.
