About The Position

Netspend Corporation is hiring a Director of Application Development to lead a world-class engineering organization responsible for core Fintech and Banking portfolios. This high-visibility senior leadership role sits within the Product & Technology organization and reports directly to the Engineering Leader. The Director will shape long-term technology vision, drive SaaS-first engineering excellence, and ensure product solutions deliver innovation, reliability, and customer value. The role calls for a technically deep leader who can oversee large application portfolios and multidisciplinary front-end and back-end teams, translate business objectives into technical strategies, and guide teams through architecture and complex engineering challenges. The Director will lead Agile transformation, AWS architecture and migration initiatives, and adoption of an AI-first development life cycle (AIDLC) to improve productivity and developer experience while preserving the integrity of financial transactions. The leader will establish metrics connecting engineering delivery to business outcomes and mentor Senior Managers and Associate Directors while fostering continuous learning, psychological safety, technical curiosity, and ownership.

Requirements

B.Tech or B.E. from a reputed, top-tier institute, or a Master of Computer Applications (MCA).
12+ years of software development experience with a progressive leadership track record.
Deep Fintech and Banking experience, including high-volume transactions, security protocols, and regulatory compliance.
Proven experience leading front-end and back-end initiatives simultaneously.
Strong foundational knowledge of modern microservices, distributed systems, and AWS migration.
Elite communication skills, with the ability to influence senior business stakeholders and inspire junior engineers.
Technical depth comparable to a former Solution Architect or Development Lead, including the ability to contribute in architecture reviews and debugging sessions.
Ability to manage large-scale portfolios and lead multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to drive Agile engineering practices while balancing delivery speed and system stability.

Demonstrated success using AI to enhance team efficiency, such as LLM-integrated workflows, automated code synthesis, or AI-driven testing.
Experience transitioning legacy banking systems to modern, cloud-native architectures.
A consultative mindset, including first-principles problem analysis and data-backed decision-making.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary interface between business units and engineering, translating commercial objectives into executable technical strategies.
Oversee a portfolio of applications and align cross-functional teams to remove blockers and deliver high-value features.
Lead the evolution of the engineering organization into a high-performing, fast-paced Agile environment that balances speed-to-market and system stability.
Guide teams through complex technical challenges and establish code quality standards.
Implement AI tools and frameworks to enhance engineering productivity and developer experience through an AI-driven Development Life Cycle.
Direct architecture and migration initiatives in the AWS ecosystem, with attention to cost-efficiency, scalability, and security.
Build autonomous teams that can ship code daily without compromising financial transaction integrity.
Define and track KPIs that connect engineering output with business revenue and user engagement.
Mentor and support the career development of Senior Managers and Associate Directors.
Foster continuous learning, psychological safety, technical curiosity, and a culture of ownership and merit-based ideas.
Shape the long-term technology vision and drive SaaS-first engineering excellence for the portfolios.
Lead front-end and back-end initiatives and build strong cross-functional partnerships.
