About The Position

As an Analytics Director, you will be responsible for leading and advancing Continental Western Group's (CWG) analytics capabilities to support pricing strategy, underwriting, claims, and executive decision making, with a strong emphasis on resourcefulness in how outcomes are achieved. You'll serve as the primary owner of CWG specific analytics strategy, innovation, and execution, leveraging a pragmatic mix of building in house solutions, shared solutions, and best fit external platforms. Additionally, you'll provide leadership across advanced analytics, competitive intelligence, AI initiatives, and business intelligence to ensure analytics are embedded into day to day decision making and aligned with CWG’s growth and profitability objectives. This role partners closely with actuarial leadership, underwriting, claims, and Regional Shared Services / DNA while maintaining accountability for CWG specific analytics priorities and plays a critical role in sustaining and advancing existing analytics capabilities, supporting new business and product development, and expanding the use of analytics and AI to improve efficiency and outcomes across the organization. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, computer science, business, or a related field required.
  • Extensive experience in analytics, actuarial science, data science, or related roles within the insurance industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead analytics strategy and translate analytical insights into business impact.
  • Strong understanding of insurance pricing, underwriting, and portfolio management concepts.
  • Experience with modern analytics and BI tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Power BI) and familiarity with AI-enabled analytics solutions.
  • Experience leading and applying AI capabilities, including generative AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot and emerging AI agents, to enhance decision-making, efficiency, and business outcomes.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across functions and influence senior leaders.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience driving change, innovation, and adoption of analytics capabilities within a business environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, computer science, business, or a related field required.
  • Professional credentials (e.g., ACAS, FCAS, CPCU) valued but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary resource for business-critical underwriting data and analytics requests, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of insights to support decision-making.
  • Lead the collection, analysis, and interpretation of competitive intelligence to inform underwriting strategy and maintain market awareness.
  • Support the integration of analytics and AI into underwriting processes by identifying opportunities, sharing best practices, and facilitating adoption of new tools and methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytical tools to enhance underwriting effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Act as a liaison with Regional Shared Services/DNA, advocating for CWG underwriting’s data and analytics needs, and facilitating collaboration to deliver effective solutions.
  • Provide training, guidance, and change management support to underwriters and business partners to drive adoption of analytics and AI solutions.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend innovative approaches that strengthen underwriting capabilities.
  • Communicate complex analytical findings to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and appropriate use of analytical tools and methodologies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
