About The Position

The Director, Alumni Engagement for the University of Cincinnati Alumni Association (UCAA) is employed by the University of Cincinnati Foundation (UCF) and reports directly to the UCAA Senior Director, Alumni Engagement. The Director, Alumni Engagement is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating programs that strategically engage and provide tangible benefits to graduates of the Lindner College of Business to build affinity for the University of Cincinnati, the College and the UC Alumni Association. The position supports the UCAA’s Outreach & Engagement team and is responsible for developing and executing programs and events that promote alumni engagement campus-wide through college-based programs, with significant responsibility related to volunteer management, relationship building, and program development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5-7 years of alumni relations, volunteer management, event planning, external relations, or closely related experience, preferably in a higher education setting or advanced degree with 3-5 years of experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated service orientation and diplomacy.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Effectiveness as an independent worker with adept problem-solving and project management skills, as well as a strategic and critical thinker.
  • Enthusiastic and energetic attitude.
  • Willing to travel, as well as work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license required for travel.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary liaison between the University of Cincinnati Alumni Association and the Lindner College of Business to ensure mutual understanding and support of priorities.
  • Work with alumni association and college leadership to develop and execute annual and long-term strategic goals to provide a well-rounded portfolio of engagement opportunities that connect college-based alumni to fellow alumni, students, the college, and UCAA.
  • Build and maintain relationships with college-based alumni both locally and nationally to encourage active participation, volunteer leadership, and support of alumni and donor engagement initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with college development staff to support the donor cultivation process, while engaging prospects and stewarding donors through targeted alumni outreach and engagement programming.
  • Form strong working relationships with important internal and external partners within the Lindner College of Business, including the college’s professional staff and faculty.
  • Serve as a resource for academic department inquiries and requests related to alumni relations.
  • Execute annual signature experiences from ideation through implementation, including Homecoming and Alumni Week events, Business Achievement Awards, and other potential activities, including but not limited to: professional networking, reunions, alumni panel discussions, scholarly lectures, student-alumni engagement activities, partnered professional organization receptions, academic department programming and corporate outreach with industry partners.
  • Manage the Lindner College of Business Alumni Council and communicate with volunteer leaders regularly regarding college-wide and university initiatives and events.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, retention, and engagement of the Alumni Leadership Council representatives for the Lindner College of Business.
  • Draft and manage content for relevant college-based alumni communications including electronic communications, web content, print brochures, invitations, and letters in coordination with UCAA Integrated Marketing, UC Foundation, and Lindner College of Business marketing and communications teams.
  • Provide alumni and annual giving content for inclusion in general college-based communications.
  • Identify outstanding alumni worthy of college- and university-wide recognition through various awards programs, driving the nomination calendar and process in cooperation with the dean’s office, the alumni association, and the college’s development staff.
  • Inform querying processes for targeted communications to college- and academic program-specific alumni and donors; ensure data integrity for the central database and other key data sources.
  • Partner with industry specific professional organizations through select local, state, and/or national meetings, events, and/or professional business conferences.
  • Manage revenue and expenses, operating within budget, for signature events and college-based alumni activities.
  • Proactively report on progress and challenges in annual and long-term goals, and assist the Senior Director, Alumni Engagement and Assistant Vice President, Alumni Engagement, as requested in budget and program development matters.
  • Represent the college’s alumni engagement programs at various internal and external functions through targeted outreach and engagement efforts.
  • Participate with industry-specific professional organizations, specifically CASE District V, and connect with fellow Big 12 business college alumni directors.
  • Participate in overall alumni association programming and initiatives, as directed and serve as a representative and liaison for the Alumni Celebration working group.
