This role is responsible for shaping how AI transforms customer engagement within a leading oncology business. The Director will turn bold ideas into capabilities used by over a thousand colleagues daily. The position requires an organizational mindset, a can-do attitude, and a proven record of delivering complex, high-impact projects to drive commercial innovation at scale. AstraZeneca is investing in a multi-year transformation of its US Oncology go-to-market model to enable more precise, coordinated, and personalized customer engagement. This involves building AI-enabled capabilities for over 1,000 employees across Commercial, Medical Affairs, and Patient Services organizations to enhance their work and relevance to customers. By embracing AI and technology, the company aims to better meet future customer and patient needs in bringing its clinical pipeline to market.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years professional experience in a Pharma commercial function (or as part of a strategy consulting firm supporting the Pharma industry).
  • Strong analytical fluency, able to translate between brand strategy, commercial operations, and technology teams.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to operate successfully in highly matrixed organizations.
  • Effective interpersonal and relationship management skills with a consultative approach and ability to interact and build trust.
  • Strong initiative to understand core business goals, setting direction, building alignment, and driving work forward.
  • Resourceful, proactive, and influential, able to prioritize in a fast-growing organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate degree (MBA, Masters, MD or PhD preferred).
  • Demonstrated commercial experience in Oncology.

Responsibilities

  • Own the strategy and transformation roadmap for Sales and Marketing AI capabilities, overseeing planning and budget management processes.
  • Develop quantifiable business cases and value narratives for future Sales and Marketing capabilities in collaboration with US Oncology Franchises and technical delivery teams.
  • Support engagement with the US Oncology Leadership team (OLT) to ensure top-down alignment on the AI roadmap and shared decisions on how key capabilities are designed.
  • Track industry, market, and innovation shifts to anticipate opportunities and risks.
  • Set the direction for how Sales and Marketing capabilities are built, prioritizing solutions that meet key business needs and are scalable and sustainable.
  • Identify people and process changes required to successfully stand-up sales and marketing capabilities.
  • Act as a change leader, delivering the Customer2030 narrative for sales and marketing teams, and partnering with Business Excellence and Franchise teams on the training plan.
  • Ensure accurate and timely translation of business needs into technical requirements in partnership with Enterprise AI (data science).
  • Approve scope and release of major AI updates.
  • Track progress and surface interdependencies, creatively addressing key challenges and blockers and escalating to senior leadership as necessary.
