About The Position

The Director, Advisor Coaching & Strategy serves as a strategic advisor, coach, and thought leader dedicated to supporting the growth, development, and long-term success of advisors within the Mariner Independent business line. In this pivotal role, you will partner closely with both advisors and the leadership team to enable business growth and scalability through the full utilization of Mariner Independent’s comprehensive platform, resources, and solutions, thereby enhancing the advisor and client experience. This leader will develop and deliver scalable coaching, training, and professional development programs designed to advance advisors’ consultative selling skills, communication proficiency, business development acumen, and relationship management abilities. The role blends strategic consulting, personalized and group coaching, practice management, and platform enablement to maximize advisor efficiency, growth, and client engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial services, wealth management, advisor consulting, coaching, or practice management role to independent channels

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor and strategic coach to Independent advisors, enhancing their ability to grow and strengthen their businesses through effective practice management and consultative guidance.
  • Design, build, and oversee comprehensive advisor coaching and development programs focused on communication excellence, consultative conversations, relationship-building, business development, and client engagement.
  • Provide individual and group coaching to advisors, focused on improving discovery conversations, meeting effectiveness, presentation skills, executive presence, confidence, and overall advisor performance.
  • Facilitate interactive training using workshops, role plays, peer coaching, simulations, and case-study-based methodologies.
  • Develop scalable frameworks, growth paths, onboarding programs, and professional development initiatives to support advisors across all career stages.
  • Cultivate internal advisor talent by identifying development needs, mentoring emerging advisors, and supporting long-term career trajectories.
  • Collaborate closely with Mariner Independent leadership to determine advisor development needs and deploy focused coaching and training solutions throughout the organization.
  • Create effective training guides, playbooks, conversation frameworks, and learning resources to drive consistency, behavioral adoption, and measurable advisor success.
  • Support advisors in leveraging all available Mariner Independent technology, resources, and wealth management solutions to enhance their efficiency, client service, and business growth.
  • Assist advisors in clearly articulating their value proposition and communicating complex financial concepts in an engaging and client-friendly manner.
  • Establish and monitor metrics, feedback loops, and performance benchmarks to assess program effectiveness, advisor progression, engagement, and impact.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, accountability, and excellence throughout the advisor community.
