About The Position

The Director, Advancement plays a critical role in advancing the National Psoriasis Foundation’s mission by building meaningful relationships with individuals, families, volunteers, health care professionals, and community leaders connected to psoriatic disease, while leading key revenue-generating initiatives that inspire philanthropic support. The Director manages a portfolio of individual donors and prospects, developing personalized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies that deepen relationships and inspire individuals to support NPF in the ways most meaningful to them. The Director seeks to understand each donor’s connection to NPF, aligns their interests with organizational priorities, and guides them toward impactful philanthropic investments through annual, major, and planned gifts. As a senior leader on the Advancement team, the Director, Advancement plays a critical role in shaping and executing the Foundation's philanthropic growth strategy. This position requires strong cross-functional collaboration, strategic leadership, and the ability to build alignment among staff, volunteers, board members, health care professionals, and donors to advance organizational fundraising priorities. As NPF prepares to launch a future capital campaign and significantly expand philanthropic investment in its mission, this role will be instrumental in building donor relationships, strengthening fundraising infrastructure, and driving the philanthropic engagement necessary to achieve ambitious organizational goals.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five to seven years of successful nonprofit fundraising experience, preferably in major gifts, planned giving, or individual giving.
Demonstrated success securing and closing five- and six-figure gifts.
Experience managing a donor portfolio and moving prospects through the cultivation and solicitation cycle.
Knowledge of planned giving principles and legacy fundraising strategies.
Strong relationship-building, interpersonal, and networking skills.
Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication abilities.
Experience working with volunteers, board members, and senior leaders.
Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
Ability to travel as needed.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Raiser's Edge, Salesforce, or comparable donor management systems preferred.
Experience with health-related nonprofit organization(s) preferred.

Responsibilities

Manage, prospect, and grow a portfolio of individual donors and prospects with annual, major, and planned giving potential to achieve assigned revenue goals
Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors capable of making significant philanthropic investments in NPF.
Develop a deep understanding of each donor’s connection to NPF, philanthropic interests, and motivations for giving, and create individualized engagement strategies.
Conduct meaningful donor visits, virtual meetings, and personalized outreach to deepen relationships and advance donors through the giving continuum.
Develop and execute strategic moves management plans that advance prospects from identification and cultivation through solicitation and stewardship.
Maintain a robust pipeline of qualified prospects to support current and future individual giving revenue goals.
Inspire donors to support NPF in ways that are most meaningful to them by connecting their interests and philanthropic goals with NPF’s mission and strategic priorities.
Solicit and secure significant philanthropic commitments from individuals and families, including five-, six-, and seven-figure gifts as appropriate.
Partner with the Vice President of Advancement, Chief Development Officer, CEO, board members, health care professionals, and volunteers to cultivate and solicit key donors and prospects.
Identify and promote planned giving opportunities, including bequests, beneficiary designations, charitable gift annuities, and other legacy giving vehicles.
Leverage NPF events, programs, and mission experiences as strategic opportunities to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors.
Collaborate with research, advocacy, patient support, marketing, and other teams to create meaningful opportunities for donors to understand and experience the impact of NPF’s work.
Develop personalized stewardship strategies that deepen donor relationships, demonstrate impact, and encourage continued and increased philanthropic support.
Ensure timely and appropriate recognition, reporting, and stewardship of portfolio donors and prospects.
Identify opportunities to connect donors with NPF leadership, mission programs, researchers, health care professionals, and volunteer leaders based on their interests and engagement goals.
Serve as a collaborative partner across the Advancement team, sharing donor insights and identifying opportunities to strengthen relationships and maximize philanthropic engagement across NPF
Lead and achieve the revenue strategy and execution for NPF’s National Commit to Cure Gala, in partnership with the Vice President of Advancement and across the Foundation.
Work cross functionally to lead the recruitment, engagement, and activation of the Gala’s honorees and Honorary Medical Committee, building meaningful relationships with honorees and committee members and leveraging their networks to expand philanthropic engagement.
Work cross functionally to develop and execute the Gala’s Fund the Mission strategy, including donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship before, during, and following the event.
Work cross functionally to strategically engage donors and prospects from across the organization in Commit to Cure Gala activities, such as table and ticket sales, live auction procurement, etc. when those opportunities support broader cultivation, solicitation, or stewardship strategies.
Collaborate with Advancement Operations team and marketing on event marketing, communications, program developments to ensure fundraising strategy is effectively integrated into Gala planning and execution.
Collaborate with the Vice President of Advancement on fundraising strategy, prospect development, and portfolio management for assigned areas.
Maintain accurate donor records, engagement plans, and activity reports within NPF's CRM.
Monitor and analyze portfolio performance, pipeline activity, and fundraising outcomes.
Participate in department planning, budget development, and revenue forecasting.
Adhere to fundraising best practices and all organizational policies and procedures.
