About The Position

This role is the primary writer, editor, and creator of print and digital communications for the Annual Fund. The Director will mentor and supervise two writers, execute the strategic plan for direct marketing, and ensure all communications meet university standards for excellence. This position collaborates closely with the direct marketing and participation team and supports the assistant vice chancellor of Advancement Communications.

Responsibilities

  • Creating, writing, editing, and proofreading print and digital solicitations up to $10,000 per year for the Annual Fund.
  • Planning, writing, editing, and proofreading solicitations and stewardship materials for Annual Fund donors of up to $100,000 per year, including Eliot Society Patrons and members of the Danforth Circle.
  • Serving as editor-in-chief of all content produced for Annual Fund solicitations.
  • Producing materials in the annual direct marketing schedule.
  • Collaborating closely with the direct marketing and participation team to ensure deadlines are met and processes are understood.
  • Reviewing all direct mail materials produced by direct reports, including printer proofs, and providing feedback in a timely manner.
  • Recruiting and overseeing two direct reports.
  • Mentoring direct reports to build a strong team with outstanding skills.
  • Preparing an annual summary of work volume for the direct marketing team.
  • Collaborating with Annual Giving to develop the strategic plan and schedule for all direct marketing solicitations.
  • Developing creative concepts for direct marketing projects.
  • Working directly with the direct marketing and participation team to coordinate workflow across the direct marketing program.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
