About The Position

Palmdale Regional Medical Center, a 184-bed acute care hospital, is seeking a Director of Admissions. Opened in 2010, it is one of Southern California's newest hospitals with all-private patient rooms, providing high-quality patient care to the Antelope Valley and surrounding areas. Palmdale Regional is actively involved in the community and supports various civic and healthcare organizations. Recently, it joined Southwest Healthcare, a regional network of five hospitals and multiple ambulatory locations, aiming to provide convenient access to a wide range of healthcare services with over 7,000 skilled care providers. Requirements

  • Admitting/Registration/Patient Access experience with expertise in rules and regulations related to Admitting.
  • Medical terminology, in-depth knowledge of third party rules and regulations related to admission, billing and collections of account receivables.
  • Ability to develop strategic plans, budgets, goals, and policies and procedures.
  • Computer proficient with PC applications, typing, organizational and communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Admitting/Registration requirements, regulations, and procedures
  • Must have knowledge of Medicare rules, regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Must have knowledge of PC and applications
  • Organizational, communication, management, and interpersonal skills required
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to prepare reports, correspondence, and emails in a professional and grammatically correct format.
  • Ability to speak effectively and articulate appropriately to all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical/clinical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in Patient Access and hospital billing/collections in an acute care hospital setting; 4-5 years in a supervisory or management role is required in lieu of Bachelor Degree.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • CPI Certification within the first 90 days.

  • Bachelor Degree preferred.
  • Education Courses/seminars related to Admitting in a Healthcare environment.
  • Industry certifications preferred (Certified Revenue Cycle Executive – CRCE, Certified Healthcare Access Manager - CHAM, )
