About The Position

The Temporary Director, Activation, Video & Audio, leads the team with the negotiation and execution of National and Local linear and digital video/audio and cinema media buys in support of strategic media planning, client strategy, development and evolution. This position is covering a leave of absence, through August 24th 2026.

Requirements

  • 8–10 years of experience in high-volume linear and digital media buying, including streaming, audio, and cinema.
  • Proven success negotiating and executing both Local and National media buys in agency environments.
  • Deep knowledge of cross-screen buying strategies, premium partnerships, and marketplace trends.
  • Proficiency with media research and planning tools (e.g., STRATA, Nielsen, SQAD, iSpot).
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office and Google Suite for data management, analysis, and presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and secure client adoption of new vendors and platforms.
  • Established negotiator with strong market reputation and lasting relationships across clients, vendors, and partners.
  • Leadership experience managing teams of 3+ people, with proven ability to mentor and drive performance.
  • Expertise in media math, analytics, and problem-solving to optimize strategy and execution.
  • Excellent communicator and presenter with strong interpersonal and written skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to synthesize data quickly and anticipate challenges.
  • Willingness to travel and work outside standard hours as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee negotiation, buying, and stewardship of all media, including scheduling, reconciliations, makegoods, and post-buy analysis.
  • Set buying strategies for National and Local linear and digital video/audio and cinema, including podcasts, CTV, and emerging platforms.
  • Develop, present, and execute media buy recommendations and POVs that align with client objectives and agency vision.
  • Drive greater client exposure by negotiating pricing, added value, and innovative alternatives informed by industry trends.
  • Lead high-level vendor partnerships and secure premium, value-added deals that strengthen client outcomes.
  • Apply media research tools and market data to guide campaign development, monitor conditions, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Collaborate with planning and media teams to ensure alignment, meet deadlines, and adjust plans based on performance insights.
  • Participate in all briefing meetings to ensure process compliance and accurate information flow across teams.
  • Provide leadership and career development for the buying team, including hiring, training, mentoring, auditing, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Inspire creativity, strategic rigor, and accountability across the team, setting a high bar for both internal and client-facing work.
  • Build deep client partnerships by maintaining a strong understanding of business priorities, market share, and competitive strategies.
  • Represent the agency in key client and industry meetings, effectively aligning client needs with agency capabilities.
  • Review and manage annual contracts for media tools, ensuring proper usage and cost efficiency.
  • Contribute to new business pitches by shaping activation strategies and showcasing buying expertise.
  • Stay ahead of evolving industry trends, technologies, and platforms to ensure strategies remain innovative and future-focused.
  • Other duties as assigned.
