About The Position

The Director, Accounting will be a senior leader within the Global Coffee Company’s Controllership organization, responsible for the integrity, timeliness, and continuous improvement of the global consolidation process, corporate and intercompany accounting activities. The role will lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidation of the company’s financial results, oversee corporate ledger activities, and establish governance over intercompany accounting, settlement, reconciliation, and elimination processes. This leader will partner closely with business unit and regional controllers, Global Business Services, External Reporting, Technical Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, IT, Internal Audit, and external auditors. The Director will help ensure consolidated financial statements are complete and accurate under U.S. GAAP, close activities are well coordinated, corporate and intercompany balances are appropriately recorded and eliminated, and supporting controls operate effectively. Director will also lead implementation of Global Coffee Company consolidation platform. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader with deep knowledge of consolidations, corporate accounting, intercompany accounting, financial systems, and internal controls. The candidate should combine strong technical judgment with disciplined execution, process ownership, team leadership, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex, global, and evolving organization.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
Active CPA license required.
12+ years of progressive accounting and controllership experience, including significant experience with financial consolidations, corporate accounting, intercompany accounting, and financial close processes.
Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. GAAP, consolidated financial statements, foreign currency matters, intercompany eliminations, cash flow reporting, equity accounting, internal controls, and financial systems.
Prior experience leading, managing, and developing accounting professionals and influencing teams across functions and geographies.
Experience operating in a complex, multinational, and deadline-driven environment.
Enterprise mindset with strong understanding of accounting relationships across the balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows, equity, and legal entity reporting.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills, with strong attention to detail and an ability to identify issues within complex financial data.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Lead the end-to-end global financial consolidation process for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, including the collection, validation, consolidation, review, and reporting of financial results.
Own and coordinate the companywide close calendar, key milestones, dependencies, submission requirements, and escalation protocols in partnership with regional and functional finance teams.
Apply U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies to evaluate whether consolidated financial statements are complete, accurate, and supported by appropriate analysis and documentation.
Review consolidated balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows, and equity activity, including period-over-period analytics, unusual items, and completeness of consolidation adjustments.
Oversee top-side, post-close, and corporate consolidation entries, ensuring each entry is appropriately supported, approved, recorded, and assessed for its impact on the consolidated financial statements.
Lead preparation and review of consolidated equity roll-forwards, cash flow consolidation support, ownership and noncontrolling interest schedules, and other consolidated schedules required for internal management and external reporting.
Own the consolidated statement of cash flows process, including movement and variation reporting, noncash activity, intercompany cash flow eliminations, cash flow adjustments, estimated reporting, system pushdowns, and resolution of reporting-calendar timing differences.
Partner with External Reporting and FP&A to support quarterly and annual reporting, management reporting, variance analysis, and alignment of consolidated results across reporting outputs.
Establish clear ownership and issue-resolution protocols for late submissions, out-of-balance conditions, mapping issues, data quality concerns, and other matters that could affect the close.
Define and enforce close cutover, data-lock, and pencils-down protocols across source and consolidation systems, including treatment of late entries, repeated interface loads, post-close adjustments, and significant changes after reporting deadlines.
Maintain governance over unusual items, non-GAAP adjustments, addback classifications, and related system mappings to ensure consistent treatment across consolidated, external, and management reporting.
Lead corporate accounting activities and corporate ledger processes, including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, balance sheet substantiation, and period-end analytics.
Oversee accounting for corporate-level transactions and allocations within the role’s scope, coordinating with Technical Accounting when transactions require formal accounting conclusions or policy interpretation.
Ensure corporate accounts are reconciled timely, reconciling items are investigated and resolved, and aged or unusual balances are escalated with clear action plans.
Partner with Tax, Treasury, Global Business Services, Legal, FP&A, and other corporate functions to ensure transactions are recorded in the appropriate legal entity, period, account, and reporting hierarchy.
Support legal entity and statutory reporting needs by providing reliable corporate accounting information, consolidation schedules, and related documentation.
Maintain effective governance over corporate chart-of-accounts requests, reporting hierarchies, and mapping changes that affect consolidated and management reporting.
Own global governance for intercompany accounting, including policies, roles and responsibilities, transaction recording, matching, reconciliation, dispute resolution, settlement, and elimination requirements.
Ensure intercompany receivables, payables, revenue, expense, loans, interest, dividends, investments, and other reciprocal balances are appropriately recorded, matched, and eliminated from consolidated results.
Lead review and resolution of intercompany imbalances, aged differences, foreign currency impacts, and counterparty mismatches, with clear accountability across participating entities and service delivery teams.
Partner with Tax, Treasury, Legal, regional controllers, and Global Business Services on intercompany agreements, transfer pricing entries, funding activities, settlements, and legal entity considerations.
Design and monitor recurring intercompany reporting and close metrics, including unresolved differences, aging, settlement status, recurring root causes, and completion of required controls.
Drive standardization and automation of intercompany processes, including opportunities to improve transaction matching, confirmations, netting, settlement, and elimination workflows.
Provide functional ownership and governance for the consolidation platform and related close and account reconciliation tools, in partnership with IT and system administrators.
Lead the business implementation of a new consolidation platform for Global Coffee Company, including requirements, design decisions, data and metadata readiness, testing, controls, training, deployment, and stabilization.
Review and approve consolidation system mapping changes, metadata requests, ownership structures, currencies, reporting hierarchies, elimination rules, and other configuration changes that affect consolidated results.
Maintain strong governance over data submissions, interfaces, validation rules, consolidation logic, elimination rules, system-generated reports, access, testing, documentation, and change management.
Establish and oversee recurring reconciliations between the consolidation platform and source, planning, and predecessor systems, including trial balance, financial statement movements, and post-pushdown tie-outs.
Govern the financial reporting lifecycle of legal entities, including entity creation, ownership changes, reorganizations, mergers, dissolutions, deactivations, historical-data retention, hierarchy changes, and related consolidation and elimination configuration.
Serve as a senior functional resource for consolidation and close tools, providing guidance, support, and training to finance teams.
Partner with IT and Finance Transformation teams on system implementations, upgrades, integrations, automation, and simplification initiatives affecting consolidation, corporate accounting, or intercompany processes.
Promote a controlled, scalable reporting environment with clear documentation, change management, testing, and access governance.
Own and continuously improve internal controls over consolidation, corporate accounting, intercompany accounting, financial system changes, journal entries, reconciliations, and close management within the role’s scope.
Ensure established procedures and controls are appropriately designed, documented, and operating effectively, with timely remediation of identified deficiencies.
Prepare, review, and explain consolidation and corporate accounting schedules requested for quarterly reviews, annual audits, internal audit procedures, and other assurance activities.
Serve as a primary liaison with internal and external auditors for consolidation, corporate accounting, intercompany, and related system matters.
Maintain complete and audit-ready documentation for significant entries, eliminations, reconciliations, judgments, system changes, and review evidence.
Partner with Technical Accounting and External Reporting to resolve accounting and reporting matters that affect consolidated results or disclosures.
Functioning as a project manager, to implement a new consolidation tool for the Global Coffee Company.
Develop and execute a roadmap to standardize, simplify, automate, and strengthen consolidation, corporate accounting, and intercompany processes across the global organization.
Identify recurring close issues and control gaps, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions that improve accuracy, speed, transparency, and accountability.
Drive harmonization of close calendars, accounting practices, reconciliation standards, and reporting requirements across legacy organizations and geographies.
Lead or support finance integration, separation, acquisition, ERP, consolidation platform, and shared services initiatives affecting the role’s responsibilities.
Lead the controllership integration of acquisitions and joint ventures into consolidated reporting, including opening balance sheets, purchase accounting adjustments, IFRS-to-U.S. GAAP conversion entries, historical results, equity and ownership structures, cash flow presentation, and subsequent ledger pushdown.
Establish meaningful close, quality, and control metrics and use those metrics to drive decisions and continuous improvement.
Maintain a hands-on approach to complex accounting and reporting challenges while balancing strategic leadership with operational execution.
Build strong relationships with regional and business unit controllers, Global Business Services, External Reporting, Technical Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, IT, Internal Audit, Legal, and other stakeholders.
Provide clear, timely communication regarding close status, key judgments, financial statement impacts, unresolved issues, risks, and required actions.
Prepare and present analyses, close updates, issue summaries, and decision materials for senior accounting and finance leadership.
Support special projects and ad hoc analyses as directed by accounting and finance leadership.
Lead, develop, and engage a team responsible for consolidation, corporate accounting, intercompany accounting, and related processes, with responsibilities refined based on the final operating model.
