About The Position

The primary focus of this role is to provide strategic direction and oversee the operations, alignment and completeness of Curriculum Design deliverables for Fine Arts grades K-12 as well as continuing long lasting relationships in the Houston community regarding Fine Arts implementation. The Director 1 plays a critical role in driving organizational success by setting goals, developing strategies, and ensuring effective implementation Fine Arts operations and integration within the district. This position requires strong leadership skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to give critical feedback.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in a leadership role, preferably within a similar industry or organization.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully leading and managing teams, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the process for designing curriculum for assigned content area(s) and grade level band(s), ensuring alignment with NES model and Houston ISD's educational objectives. This includes slides, student activities, assessments, and differentiated assignments.
  • Oversee the implementation of Fine Arts programming on campuses across the District. Provide support including aligning with campus principals and leadership on observation best practices, overseeing Fine Arts events in collaboration with campus staff, arranging field visits and competition logistics with campuses.
  • Prepare and facilitate in collaborative brain trust sessions to gather insights, share expertise, and foster innovation in curriculum design and instructional strategies to ensure alignment, correctness, and clarity of each lesson document.
  • Create working improvement plans for Curriculum Writer 1s in conjunction with Curriculum Writer 2s to see growth in delivery of on-time, completed, high quality instruction through crucial conversations and direct oversight of deliverables received.
  • Create scopes and sequence utilizing high quality instructional research and strategies. Create and provide Lesson Objectives to Designers in a sequential order.
