About The Position

This position is accountable for the operations of the Logistics department and for planning overall product supply needs, while ensuring employee safety. The incumbent is responsible for achieving strategic logistics and planning objectives and for supporting the company’s sustainable growth.

Requirements

  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience managing logistics operations and staff within a processing facility.
  • Degree in Business Administration or Logistics; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Well‑developed leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A good level of English is required, as the position interacts with various departments at the company’s head office.
  • Sound judgment with a proven ability to manage complex business challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, take ownership, and follow through on commitments.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure, with the flexibility required for daily planning variations in an oilseed processing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess customer requirements and liaise with the appropriate departments (Marketing, Logistics, Quality Assurance, Operations, and Manufacturing) to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Manage the reception, storage, and loading of products handled by the facility and, when applicable, third‑party storage providers.
  • Manage staff scheduling based on data provided by Operations.
  • Manage grain, meal, and oil inventories, monitoring product condition to ensure customer specifications are met.
  • Manage all transportation requirements for incoming and outgoing raw materials via truck, rail, and vessel.
  • Measure logistics performance and progress by ensuring appropriate monitoring systems are in place; identify and recommend opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead Food Safety and EH&S programs within the logistics team.
  • Oversee and coordinate logistics projects in conjunction with the General Manager.
  • Coordinate the work of external contractors.
  • Manage all aspects of the team’s human resource responsibilities, including hiring, promotion, performance management, and termination, in accordance with company policy.
  • Lead, coach, and manage the team to ensure excellence, engagement, and commitment to customers, the team, and departmental goals and objectives.
  • Participate in the development and management of operating budgets.
  • Assess best practices and leading trends in logistics.
  • Manage logistics‑related Quality Control activities, including but not limited to FSSC 22000 compliance, audits, waste management, and staffing.
  • Ensure the implementation of proactive health, safety, and environmental programs.
  • Develop and foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders by delivering high‑quality service and identifying opportunities to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
