About The Position

Les Compagnons des francs loisirs are a non-profit French-speaking organization working in the cultural, community, and early childhood sectors. With a team of approximately 80 employees spread across several sites, the organization plays a key role in the dynamism and vitality of the Francophonie in the Nipissing region. In a context of growth and organizational structuring, we are looking for a Director of the Childcare Services sector to join our management team. Reporting to the General Director, the incumbent is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and management of the organization's childcare services sector. They ensure the performance, quality, and compliance of the services offered in all childcare centers, while actively contributing to the structuring of the sector and the achievement of organizational objectives. The position is exclusively at a strategic, organizational, and decision-making management level, and is distinct from the daily operational functions carried out at the site level. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in management, early childhood education, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior management role, ideally in a multi-site environment
  • Experience in team management and supervision of managers
  • Good knowledge of the regulatory framework for childcare services in Ontario
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a growing and evolving environment
  • Mastery of French and English, both spoken and written

  • Experience in change management and organizational structuring (significant asset)

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement a strategic vision for the childcare services sector aligned with the organization's priorities
  • Act as a strategic advisor to the General Director and the management committee
  • Actively participate in organizational reflections (structure, growth, risk management)
  • Develop performance indicators and ensure regular monitoring (occupancy rate, quality of services, staff retention, etc.)
  • Be responsible for the overall accountability of the sector to the General Director and, if applicable, the Board of Directors
  • Structure and optimize the organization of childcare services across different sites
  • Implement clear, efficient, and uniform operational processes
  • Support change management in a context of growth and transformation
  • Ensure consistency in management practices across the sector
  • Ensure overall supervision of the childcare centers under their responsibility (8 sites)
  • Coach site managers with a focus on governance and overall performance
  • Analyze the overall performance of the sector and guide optimization strategies at the sector level
  • Intervene, as needed, in complex or critical situations presenting organizational or strategic issues
  • Develop, plan, and monitor the sector's overall budget, with a focus on global, non-operational site management
  • Formulate financial directions aimed at organizational optimization
  • Analyze budget variances and propose corrective measures
  • Collaborate with the finance department to ensure financial rigor and compliance
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources Director, at a strategic level, for workforce planning, recruitment and retention, and skills development
  • Coach site managers and support their development
  • Ensure mobilizing leadership and a healthy work environment across the sector
  • Intervene in sensitive or complex files
  • Collaborate with the pedagogical advisor to ensure the quality and consistency of educational practices
  • Ensure, through management teams, that pedagogical directions are applied uniformly
  • Support the continuous improvement of educational practices
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations applicable to childcare services
  • Oversee the application of internal policies across the sector
  • Supervise incident and risk management mechanisms across the sector
  • Implement risk prevention and management practices
  • Maintain strategic relationships with partners (educational, institutional, community)
  • Represent the organization in early childhood-related matters
  • Contribute to the development and outreach of the sector
