About The Position

The Direct Support Supervisor (DSS) will guide and support a team of professionals who empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to build independence and thrive in their community. This leadership role involves ensuring individualized program plans are implemented with compassion and accuracy, maintaining compliance with regulations, and fostering a positive, person-centered environment. The DSS will monitor daily operations, ensure proper documentation, communicate with stakeholders, and ensure the residence meets safety and regulatory standards while feeling like home. Availability for on-call duties and emergency response is also required.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Strong communication skills—both written and verbal
Proven leadership with the ability to motivate and mentor a diverse team
Experience in residential settings serving individuals with I/DD

Nice To Haves

Previous supervisory or management experience strongly preferred
A proactive attitude, a big heart, and a drive to make a difference

Responsibilities

Lead, train, and support a team of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and an Assistant DSS, if applicable.
Ensure individualized program plans are implemented with compassion and accuracy.
Maintain compliance with state, federal, and agency regulations.
Foster a positive, person-centered environment that promotes dignity and choice.
Monitor day-to-day operations, ensure proper documentation (Therap, t-logs, checklists), and address concerns in real time.
Communicate effectively with families, staff, and other departments.
Ensure the residence meets safety and regulatory standards—and feels like home.
Be available for on-call duties and respond to emergencies with calm, capable leadership.
