DSP Employment Skills (Drivers) - Bronx
About The Position
AHRC New York City is seeking full-time Direct Support Professionals for its Bronx Day Program. The role supports participants in developing social and daily living skills and accompanies them to appointments, community outings, and other activities. DSPs complete progress notes and entries in the daily log book. The position is 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The pay rate is $20 per hour. Bonuses of $2,000 annually are available upon completion and passing of the AHRC Defensive Driving class and upon completion of AMAP training, depending on driving status and program needs. Requirements
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English.
- Knowledge of Home and Community Based Waiver requirements, ability to keep that knowledge current, and ability to interpret them.
- Understanding of Person Centered Planning.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with program participants, families, staff, and community agencies.
Nice To Haves
- Personal and/or professional experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
- A driver's license held for more than one year and in good standing is preferred.
- High school diploma or GED is preferred.
