About The Position

AHRC New York City is hiring full-time Direct Support Professionals for its Bronx Day Program. The role involves supporting program participants with disabilities in developing social and daily living skills, and accompanying them to appointments, community outings, and other activities. The position is 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Pay is $20 per hour. Annual bonuses of $2,000 may be available for completing and passing AHRC Defensive Driving class and for completing AMAP training, depending on driving status and program needs.

Requirements

Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English.
Knowledge of Home and Community Based Waiver requirements and ability to stay current and interpret them.
Understanding of Person Centered Planning.
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with program participants, families, staff, and community agencies.

Nice To Haves

Personal and/or professional experience working with individuals with disabilities.
A driver's license held for more than one year and in good standing.
High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

Assist participants in learning and developing social skills, daily living skills, and habits.
Accompany participants to appointments, community outings, and other activities.
Complete progress notes and make entries in the daily log book.
