The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role involves providing individualized care, active treatment, and support to residents in daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and personal hygiene. This position requires active participation in structured and unstructured activities, documentation of client progress, and maintaining a safe living environment. DSPs also play a role in housekeeping, planning social and recreational activities, and transporting residents to community events. They are integral members of the interdisciplinary team, working cooperatively with all personnel involved in resident treatment and promoting a positive self-image and individualized development for residents.
