About The Position

The Arc of Cumberland and Perry Counties in Mechanicsburg, PA is seeking to hire a part time entry-level Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide direct care for the individuals we serve with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role supports individuals with disabilities to lead self-directed, meaningful lives as part of a dedicated and motivated team. This is an entry-level opportunity in human services where you can make a difference. Our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) earn a competitive wage of $17.55/hour plus an additional $1/hour shift differential. The Arc of Cumberland and Perry Counties was formed in 1953 by parents advocating for people with disabilities who were denied basic rights and services. Today, our staff continues to advocate for people with disabilities; offer tools and training to help families; and ensure that individuals live, work, and play in their community. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you support people with disabilities to live their best lives as independently as possible. You assist with activities of daily living such as household maintenance, transportation, administration of medications, grocery shopping, meal preparation, personal care, and more. While supporting people with disabilities, you build strong relationships while learning their individual differences in ability, personality, interests, learning, motivation, likes, and dislikes. This helps you to provide the best care. Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle during working hours
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Ability to keep track of multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
