About The Position
WellLife Network is hiring a Direct Support Professional to provide hands-on care, encouragement, and advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities and other support needs. The role supports people in their homes and communities, helping them live as independently as possible and achieve their goals. The position is located at 145th Rd IRA in Jamaica, New York, and is scheduled Thursday through Monday, 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM. The listed hourly rate is $19.71. The organization serves people across behavioral health, developmental disabilities, addiction recovery, housing, employment, and family support. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency diploma.
- Valid New York State Driver’s License.
- At least one year of driving experience.
- Comfort operating a large vehicle.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities or other behavioral health disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Help with meal preparation and household chores, and maintain a safe, comfortable home environment.
- Administer medications as directed.
- Support individuals in attending medical appointments and following treatment plans.
- Assist with walking, transfers, and use of mobility aids, ensuring individuals can navigate safely.
- Implement respectful behavioral support strategies and provide encouragement and reassurance.
- Plan and participate in recreational, educational, and social activities, and encourage involvement in community programs and events.
- Assist with communication tools or techniques and advocate for individuals’ needs, rights, and access to services.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, therapists, and other team members to provide holistic care.
- Maintain accurate and timely daily notes, progress reports, incident reports, and other required documentation in electronic systems.
