About The Position

Grow Developmental Disability Solutions is seeking a Direct Support Worker for Children and/or Adults with Developmental Disabilities. This role involves making a difference in someone's life by helping them live more independently and fulfilling lives. As a person-centered agency, we treat every individual with respect and dignity, creating plans around their specific goals. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) will work one-on-one with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/IDD), supporting their daily routines, community involvement, and personal goals in an engaging, respectful, and empowering manner. Requirements

18+ years old
High school diploma or equivalent
1+ year of caregiving or related experience
Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation
Smartphone required
Must be able to successfully pass all state-required background checks and meet all ODDS employment eligibility requirements.
CPR/First Aid/AED (or willing to obtain)

Nice To Haves

Spanish and English speaking ability
Comfortable around kids and dogs
Shares same interests as client
Experience in a low demand environment

Responsibilities

Support daily routines (cooking, cleaning, personal care with the client)
Help clients get into the community and stay engaged
Follow care plans and goals
Communicate with families and your team
Complete notes and documentation
Ensure safety and well-being at all times
Support with household cleaning and chores, keeping clients on-task and helping them break down tasks
Support clients to get out into the community
Help clients understand everyday tasks and direct instructions
Engage in conversations on client's focus topics
Support clients with all ADLs
Take clients to the library or to lessons
Learn how to communicate with clients on a spelling board
Attend Summer camp with client
Work on expanding food choices, making friends, exploring the community, building emotional regulation skills, improving gross motor skills and increasing flexibility.
