DSP Direct Support Professional - 16 Hrs
About The Position
The Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is seeking dedicated, caring, and compassionate individuals to work in their Group Homes as Direct Support Professionals/Residential Counselors. This role is crucial in assisting and supervising individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in meeting their personal health, safety, and welfare needs. Responsibilities include aiding with personal care, participating in household tasks and life skills development, and assisting with medication administration. The position also involves driving residents to various appointments and activities, daily documentation of services, and facilitating community-based activities. DPD is one of the largest Catholic Charities Agencies providing care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the United States.
Requirements
- Motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of our residents at all times.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A valid (non-provisional) driver's license.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and our emergency evacuation procedures.
- Must attend a monthly Staff Meeting (date/time to be determined and announced in advance).
- All offers of employment are contingent on the successful completion/passing of our criminal background/references/DMV check, fingerprinting, pre-employment physical and drug test, etc.

Responsibilities
- Assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas such as bathing and toileting.
- Participate in and/or supervise cleaning, cooking, and life skills activities.
- Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and residents.
- Drive residents to/from day programs, outside, and within their community using agency vehicles.
- Provide daily documentation of services provided.
- Assist with community-based activities.
