About The Position

The Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is seeking dedicated, caring, and compassionate individuals to work in their Group Homes as Direct Support Professionals/Residential Counselors. This role is crucial in assisting and supervising individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in meeting their personal health, safety, and welfare needs. Responsibilities include assisting with personal care, participating in household tasks like cleaning and cooking, administering medication, communicating effectively with staff and residents, driving residents to various appointments and activities using agency vehicles, documenting services provided, and assisting with community-based activities.

Requirements

Motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of our residents at all times.
High school diploma or equivalent.
A valid (non-provisional) driver's license.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and our emergency evacuation procedures.
Must attend a monthly Staff Meeting (date/time to be determined and announced in advance).
Successful completion/passing of criminal background/references/DMV check, fingerprinting, pre-employment physical and drug test.

Nice To Haves

Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas such as bathing and toileting.
Participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking, and life skills development.
Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and residents.
Drive residents to/from day programs, outside, and within their community using agency vehicles.
Provide daily documentation of services rendered.
Assist with community-based activities.
