About The Position

This position involves assisting and monitoring clients in various aspects of their daily lives, including self-care, meal preparation, housekeeping, and medication administration. The role requires implementing behavior programs, data collection, and active treatment plans. The Direct Support Professional will also participate in team communication, transport clients, and ensure a safe and clean environment. Documentation and reporting of any issues or injuries are critical. The position emphasizes positive interaction with clients, families, and coworkers, adherence to company policies, and flexibility in scheduling.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a valid North Carolina Driver's License.
  • HS Diploma and/or GED.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Able to get along with others professionally.
  • Able to lift at least 40 lbs.
  • Able to perform MANDT/CPR/First Aid techniques.
  • Must have flexible schedule.
  • Daily contact with body fluids, cleaning agents, and general household equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and monitor clients while dressing, bathing, toileting, and in all other aspects of self-care.
  • Assist and monitor clients during meals to ensure utilization of family style dining.
  • Assist and monitor clients in all aspects of housekeeping responsibilities (Clothing care, house cleaning, and yard care).
  • Prepare meals and nutritional supplements.
  • Administer prescribed medication without error.
  • Assist and monitor clients in the implementation of prescribed diet orders and utilization of adaptive equipment.
  • Implement and follow all established behavior programs, data collection, and established safety procedures.
  • Assist and monitor clients in appropriate active treatment including training objective plans, recording data, and implementing service goals.
  • Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team and to communicate appropriate clients information as directed by supervisory staff.
  • Transport and monitor clients on Company vehicles as directed.
  • Assist and monitor clients during community outings.
  • Assist and monitor clients during participation at school and day program activities.
  • Attend staff development classes as scheduled and successfully complete test required competency testing (MANDT, CPR, First Aid, Safe Van Driving, Promotion of Consumer Well Being, Cultural Competency and Medication Administration).
  • Ensures that work area and company vehicles is clean, safe, secure, and well maintained.
  • Ensures all required documentation is completed as listed in facility communication book and or any software system.
  • Reports any violations of client right to supervisory staff immediately.
  • Reports any on the job injury to supervisory staff immediately.
  • Arrives to work on time and leaves the work site at the end of the shift or when the next shift arrives.
  • Reports to work on all scheduled days unless absence has been approved by supervisor.
  • Interact with clients in a positive manner in accordance with Clients Rights Policies.
  • Interacts with parents, guardians,staff and visitors in a positive manner.
  • Works as a team player and interacts in a positive manner with coworkers.
  • Adheres to established LIFE, Inc. dress code as it relates to clothing, shoes, jewelry and nail length.
