The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct care, supervision, and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting. DSPs play a vital role in promoting independence, dignity, personal growth, and community inclusion while ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of those they support. No prior experience is required. Comprehensive paid training is provided.

Requirements

Must be at least 20 years of age.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Ability to successfully complete: State and federal criminal background checks, Drug screening, Pre-employment physical and PPD screening

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in direct support, caregiving, healthcare, human services, or a related field.
CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
Additional education in healthcare, psychology, social work, education, nursing, or a related field.

Responsibilities

Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene, and personal care.
Prepare meals and provide feeding assistance when needed.
Support the development of daily living and independent living skills.
Accompany individuals to appointments, community activities, and social events.
Provide companionship, encouragement, and emotional support.
Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable living environment.
Implement individualized support plans and service goals.
Document services and report significant observations as required.
Promote person-centered care, dignity, choice, and respect.
Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of individuals receiving services.
