Direct Support Professional Respite Overnight
About The Position
The Direct Support Professional assists in providing self-care training, therapeutic treatments, and assistance in daily living to developmentally disabled individuals attending the agency's respite facility. The Respite Center offers a six-bed home-like atmosphere with trained staff to ensure the best quality of care for individuals with disabilities. Individual stays run Thursday-Sunday where they will receive meals, activities, and trips within the community. Direct Support Professionals are the trained staff who provide 24-hour supervision, care, and guidance to residents. They assist with personal care needs, cleaning, cooking, medications, and activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
Responsibilities
- Must stay awake and not place themselves in a compromising position/place that is conducive to sleep; Continuously assess the status of the physical building and the individuals throughout the duration of the shift.
- Provides individualized care as outlined in the individuals Life Plan, or ISP.
- Supports the residents to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
- Observes, documents and communicates pertinent information such as behaviors, nursing, nutrition, clinical issues, etc., to facilitate assessment and development of treatment goals.
- Assist with personal care needs, cleaning, cooking, medications, and activities.
