About The Position

Cardinal McCloskey Community Services (CMCS) is hiring Direct Support Professionals to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in living more independent and fulfilling lives. The role helps create a safe, respectful, and empowering environment that promotes dignity, choice, inclusion, personal goals, and community involvement. The position is at the Elmsford IRA.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or two years of work experience.
• Caring, upbeat personality.
• Valid New York State driver's license held for at least two years and an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to safely lift and assist up to 70 pounds to support mobility, personal care, transfers, and emergency needs.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with individuals with special needs.
• A bachelor's degree or three years of experience qualifies for the listed higher starting pay.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on assistance with daily living activities, including hygiene, cooking, housekeeping, and laundry.
• Assist with medication administration and transportation to appointments.
• Provide behavioral support as needed.
• Encourage independence and community involvement by supporting individuals in achieving personal goals.
• Foster a positive, respectful environment that promotes dignity, choice, and inclusion.
