About The Position

Pathway to Possible (P2P) has been providing housing and support services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1972. Our mission is to provide housing, support, and advocacy for people with cognitive and developmental disabilities - and their families - while erasing barriers, building confidence, empowering independence, and expanding opportunities that enrich their lives and their communities. The afternoon float will be guaranteed 40 hours a week and each week will be assigned to the house with the highest staffing need. The weekday float will receive their program assignment prior to their shifts. The float will assist residents with activities of daily living including personal and health care needs, meals, transportation, and recreational activities. 24 hours' notice for Sunday location assignments with location being subject to change over the course of the weekend.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or bachelor's degree desirable.
  • 2-3 years of experience working in a residential setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with clients who are struggling with some challenging behaviors.
  • Ability to read and write English and to document and to update case records and logs proficiently.
  • Ability to work with developmentally challenged individuals and diverse staff, clients, and volunteers.
  • Flexibility and working as a “team player”.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor with great interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Valid Massachusetts driver's license
  • Clearance of CORI and SORI background checks as required by state and federal law.
  • Clearance of DPPC registry as required by state law
  • Comfortable working in an environment with a cat.
  • Current MAP (Medication Administration Program) certification or ability to obtain it within 90 days of start date and maintain MAP certification for the duration of employment
  • First Aid/CPR certified or the ability to obtain it within 1 month of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in maintaining healthy lifestyles in a safe and secure environment.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of weekend activities for the residents.
  • Provide direction to and act as role model for other P2P staff on weekend shifts in absence of Program Manager.
  • Complete all documentation responsibilities and maintain the confidentiality of all information relating to the individuals supported by P2P.
  • Participate in agency and Department of Developmental Services training programs and attend staff meetings.
  • Participate in the maintenance of house, grounds, furnishings, and equipment.
  • Take direction from the Program Managers and Weekend Managers and participate in program and personnel evaluations.
  • Effectively communicate with Program Manager on a regular basis regarding issues affecting residents/programming/property/etc.
  • Follow all policies and procedures as outlined in the P2P Personnel Policies and Procedures and the P2P Policies to Promote Human Dignity.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of ISP programs designed to develop personal competencies based on Long-Range plans supporting people in accessing community services and activities.
  • P2P staff may be reassigned to other P2P work locations based on the needs of the residents we support.
